If Haye somehow wins this fight he should be p4p number 1.

A 2 stone weight difference against the fighter number 2 on the p4p list and add to that Haye would have been a unified ring champion at 2 weights.

Not sure how long long it has been since a fighter swooped at least 3 belts at 2 weights.

I can't remember anyone, certainly Pacman and Mayweather have never stuck about at a weight long enough to colect enough belts.

what if wlad wins he's already on the list at number 5 and haye is around probably 20, so the win over haye should put him in the top 4

Don't be silly.........

Pacman in fairness has Marquez, Morales, Hatton, Mosley, Barrera, Cotto etc etc....on his record and even if most of them are/were past their primes they were still hanging around the top 10 p4p mark!!!

Klits is mid thirties, robotic and one dimensional...

One win overrides everything Manny has done????

Give it a rest..pathetic.

A win for Haye puts him in Wlad's place on the list...maybe a smidge higher depending on who's immediately above Wlad.

sorry mate...not with you.

Tyson was no 4 after cleaning out the heavy division...

JC was rightfully so no 1...during Tyson's time.......

Leonard beat Hagler and didn't make the top 5....

More impressive than a Klits win and considering leonard's cv more worthy of no 1..

Haye beats Wlad he should switch places. He'll be a two-weight unified champ. Shouldn't matter he's fought zip at heavy, he'll have beaten the best in the division.

Obviously not number one, although he'd beat Manny easily...unless it was another catchweight.

Personally I'm a bit tired of the whole pound-for-pound thing anyway. It's largely speculation and personal opinion anyway.

Being unified heavyweight champion is more important than the mythical pound for pound crown anyway

In a sense, yes. It's about who you've ACTUALLY beaten, rather than who the general public THINK you'd beat.

Aside from possibly Robinson and Leonard the public has almost always cared more about the heavyweight division than anything else

Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Liston, Ali, Frazier, Foreman and Tyson are by and large the most recognizable names in boxing history

A unified champion only has to hold 3 belts as outlined by all the governing bodies themselves, Ring magazine and the IBHOF

WBC's lost a lot of credibility though from their exploits with the middle and light middle belts.

None of the belts have any honour any more do they

Ask yourself this who was better known, Chavez or Douglas?

What has that got to do with anything...

You said a unified champ should be regarded with more respect basically..

When it comes down to it no one remembers the pound for pound number one but they remember the heavyweight champions, not a hard concept to grasp

I remember p4p no 1's because they are alltime greats of the game!!! and it takes a special fighter to get there!!

Hardly anybody remember the Douglas, Moorer types..

Not too hard to grasp either hey!!!

I think you're both right. Casual and hardcore fans remember different things. The pound-for-pound concept is a little too ambiguous for some casual fans, whereas the belt system is more clearly defined. Pound-for-pound can be debated. Belt holders hold the belt.

Funny isn't it how guys like Robinson, Gans, Monzon, Greb, Hagler, Leonard, Duran, Chavez, Jones jr..guys who were probably p4p no 1 in there era are still talked about on here...

and yet no one seems to talk about undisputed heavy champ Jack Sharkey!!

Go figure...yet Gans is earlier in time.

No one remembers Douglas as being the man who beat Tyson do they? Guess not much like no one remembers Moorer as the man who got flattened by 46 year old George Foreman, sure Truss your right again

You remember them for being great fighters rather than being the pound for pound king

Chavez is remembered for the unbeaten streak
Mayweather is remembered for his skill, defensive brilliance and being a 5 weight world champion
The list goes on and on

Gans and Greb are remembered in boxing circles and even then not everyone knows who they are

So young towser would know who primo Carnera, Max Baer is...

I doubt it but he'll know who Greb, Gans, Ketchel are etc because they are written about on a daily basis..

Why because they are the cream and are remembered....

Look I don't want to argue with you ghosty..I respect your opinion but it's who you beat that defines you..

I doubt very much YT knows about any boxer before the likes of Leonard to be honest Truss

Truss starting with Sullivan can you name each and every heavyweight champion in order because its the one division you can do it with quite easily, ask me to name all the lightweights, welterweights or light heavyweights and i'll struggle

Your defined by who you beat outside of the heavyweight but Ali, Louis, Foreman, Dempsey and Tyson are the most recognizable names in the sports history

But that's not my point.

You can name the greatest fighters of each era.....

You say being a unified heavy champ is a great achievement and it is..I agree..

However being the greatest fighter of your era is the ultimate achievement any fighter can have...

Everybody knows who the p4p man is....why there are so many manny/floyd articles etc..

To me it's the ultimate honor....

agree to disagree and move on..

To me the heavyweight title is the pinnacle of the sport which has been lost for almost a decade but hopefully tonight it will be reclaimed by someone worthy of it... Come on Haye
