British Tennis News Empty British Tennis News

Alex Bogdanovic and Richard Bloomfield won their qualifier matches at the Newport International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Smile Some good news I guess for British Mens Tennis.

Also George Morgan and Oliver Golding will be in action in the JM Glendinning Tournament.

They both lost in the first round in straight sets. Bloomfield received a bagel.

Did anyone expect anything else, particularly from Boggy? Amazed he made it through qualifying.

Bloomfield is predicted to drop about 270 places to a rank of 600 while Boggo will actually ascend about 20 places to a high of 385.

Davies Cup next - Britain up against the might that is Luxembourg.

A big Thanks to Andy Murray for keeping Britain on the World tennis map.

Otherwise help!

I realise there is a thread dedicated to the British DC team but as it’s been mentioned here……Joking apart, without AM Britain could lose to Luxembourg. Muller is easily good enough to win both his rubbers and although their next best is ranked 971 well, you know the propensity that British players have to greatly under perform when the Davis Cup comes aknocking

Edited for spelling

Bradman
You're absolutely right - without Murray, GB would be at risk of losing to Luxemburg and even with him we aren't absolutely guaranteed a win (hopefully Ward will play well enough to beat the Lux #2, but it is losing this type of match that has caused us to be so far down the divisions).

We probably should take it 4-1, but as you say, never underestimate the ability of a British DC player to underperform on the day.
