Ferrer to miss US Open Series?

I seem to have a lot of catching up to do with tennis news, but trawling the net today found the above and wondered if anyone else had seen?
What a shame - it is always good to have the battling Ferrer in the mix

Yeah poor David Ferrer, a good competitor, he plays well at the USO I think in fact if not mistaken the USO is Ferrer's first tournament to reach a grand slam semi in. Also he smoked Nadal one year in the 4th or quarters.
