the SRU finally sees sense
So with 6 days till the Ireland test, and around about 20,000 tickets sold. In an attempt to further fill Murrayfield, the SRU has finally decided to sell tickets to an international match on the day itself.
"To ensure all supporters have an opportunity to come along to Murrayfield to back the team ahead of the IRB Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, tickets will be available for purchase on the day of the match in addition to the usual pre-booking avenues."

How are they advertising and promoting the game?

In terms of advertising, they've got the usual little side and top banner adverts on their website. Emmm... they've sent out emails about the tests to their mailing list. And continue to update their news feed with every story featuring a spiel about buying tickets to the warm up games

Haha, indeed for the majority of the year the SRU has been keeping these pre World Cup tests firmly under wraps, they're almost covert.
Another thing that probably wont help is that the SRU, from around about April has been selling tickets for these matches advertised at kicking off at 2:30. Only for them to turn around in July and make the Ireland game kick off slightly earlier, and the Italy game kick-off 2.5 hours later.

Apparently Sir James Smyth McBumferty at the SRU mentioned something about a game to Mrs McBumferty.
Or perhaps something a bit less overt.

I heard the details of the games were in the book 'angels and demons' - all you needed to do read it, travel to 100 different churches, fountains and statues around Scotland, then decifer the clues and destroy an evil empire
Then you have the clue to when the game is on (just a clue mind)

I'm no marketer, but tens of thousands will soon be descending on Edinburgh for the festival in the next couple of days - it wouldn't take the brains of Britain to employ 5 students to walk around the Royal mile and town handing out flyers advertising the game.
Say 40 quid a day per person x 5 = 200 quid a day. At 10/20 quid a ticket they only need to sell 15 odd tickets a day and they pay for themselves!

Well it turns out that the SRU has filmed an advert starring Patterson, which they're showing from today on STV.
You can watch it here
