we have a discussion going about this in anotehr thread, regarding just how badly Sehwag and Gambhir did. They were the guys who were suppossed to turn around Indias batting....the "worst opener in test history" meanwhile is saving them from further embaressment with a solid score.

Sehwag and Gaumbhir only managed a 15-run opening partnership against Northants on the first day (Sehwag falling for 8), and when Gaumbhir went for 18 the scoreboard read 49-2. Mukund managed an unbeaten 113 before retiring out to let Dhoni have a knock, but Dhoni only made 2 from 13. Laxman made 49, Raina 33, and Mishra was 48* at the close, having come in for Harbhajan Singh. India closed on 327-7 from 90 overs.

Zaheer Khan is playing in the match (made a brisk 12), but more focus will be on the left-arm seamer today as India will surely declare and look to give their bowling attack some much needed match practice.

Amit Mishra goes on to make a 50. Good for him, but I hope he does understand his primary responsibility is with the ball, to pick up wickets. Every run he scores is welcomed, but not at the expense of his bowling.
We've had enough of that with Harbhajan!!.

Out of 58 overs so far in the Northants innings he has bowled just three

Is there any news on Zaheer? doesn't seem to have bowled a lot. Is the injury still troubling him?
Otherwise, I think its a stupid decision. He needed some overs, certainly more than 3 under his belt to be match fit.

he has been offically ruled out of the rest of the tour... fletcher has problems now lol
