Floyd looks ready - Ortiz is in trouble!!!
TAKING A LOOK AT HBO'S RING LIFE, FLOYD LOOKS GREAT PHYSICALLY AND CRUCIALLY MENTALLY. I THINK THE BOUY WANTS TO MAKE A STATEMENT IN THIS FIGHT! I CANT WAIT!!!
ORTIZ IS TOUGH, ALL RESPECT TO HIM, BUT IS HE SMART ENOUGH? I ALSO PREDICT AS I DID AGAINST SUGAR SHANE THAT FLOYD WILL BE THE PHYSICALLY STRONGER MAN IN THE RING AND THAT REALISATION WILL DISORIENTATE ORTIZ. WATCH THE HBO PIECE BELOW!

Floyd seems like he wants to prove a point which doesn't bode well for Ortiz who is out his depth at this level lets not forget he quit against Maidana who can punch but do very little else apart from walk forward.

Although Ortiz seems to have found new strength...he is going in against the ultimate test. Doesnt bode well for him I'm afraid.

Hey Dazz how u doing fella! nice to see all you guys fine and well and running what seems like a decent forum!
yeh agreed the scary thing for me is the mental focus! looking at him i am now convinced that this is all about the big one, Manny! I think what we are seeing is a mental and psychological tune up that will take him straight into a fight with Manny, barring any of those banana skins boxing likes to throw up!!!
And lets get one thing right Floyd aint gonna run, his gonna walk this boy down! I said he would stay in the box against Mosley and ppl laughed me off the old forum!
Since Oscar i have spoken consistently about this man stength Floyd has grown into and the increased physical confidence this is giving him in the ring! the jab is going to be in evidence, he is going to walk this guy down at some point in the fight and he is going for a KO!

I'm doing well thanks mate - dont see you often enough on here these days causing mischeif! Where are you hiding these days? Still on ESB?
Yeah I agree mate. Floyd will be the agressor in this one I feel. I reckon its a southpaw tune up also. Floyd looks very determined. The big fight will happen next year. Possibly mid to late 2012. It WILL happen!!
This board has been great - some good Q&A's with boxers also!

Re: Floyd looks ready - Ortiz is in trouble!!!
I actually agree this is leading up to the big one Zoomy. Floyd is an enigma for me seems to have phases where he flirts between being wildly in love with the game and falling out with it, genuinely think at the minute he is very much in the former and this speaks well for the chances of getting the fight we all want.
Also think once both have disposed of their upcoming fights what is left. Think neither are too keen on going above welter again and there isn't too much at light welter that sets the pulses racing, particularly as for Manny Cotto is old ground and at light welter Bradley can't draw fliles and Khan is not really ready.
Tend to agree also that Floyd will stay in the pocket, realise Mosley had seen better days but he could still dig and still had some hand speed, if he can stay in their with Shane will have no fear doing similar against a guy far less cute than Shane.

Zoomy, I think that you may want to check out next week's five candidates for the 606 v2 Hall of Fame, when your man Azumah will be one of the fighters up for selection.
As to Mayweather-Ortiz, I've never doubted that Floyd will have far too much for Ortiz, who is decent, but no better than that. I admire the general faith that Floyd-Pacquiao can be made, mind you. It's almost too late now - any hitch will make it almost meaningless; we can't wait until they're both nearly 40.

I, like you, feel that it may already be too late in terms of a prime Floyd vs a prime Manny. I have the horrible feeling that one of them is just going to be that bit off the pace which will cost them dearly.
Re: Floyd looks ready - Ortiz is in trouble!!!
Ah the good Cap'n! How are you sir?!! Yes i will defintely tune in to hopefully see the induction of the great African Warrior into your hall of fame........ surely no one dare put up an objection lol
I hope the other great african man sausage Tiger is already in or due for consideration!
I did scan today and see the votes at middleweight pound for pound and you will not be shocked to know i had a fit looking at some of the ill conceived judgements of my her Hagler...... some know it all actually described him essentially as a a great chin and will and nothing else!!!! Shocking.... terrible and shocking!!!

Tiger's up for consideration about five weeks hence, zoomy. At the moment, there's a pretty big debate about another man of Africa, Brian Mitchell, and whether he belongs or not.
Watch that blood pressure by the way. Go and watch a clip of Hagler battering Sibson, and all will be well again.

Re: Floyd looks ready - Ortiz is in trouble!!!
The difference between Marv first time and second time is astronomical. No doubt in my mind that actually winning the title took Hagler to a different galaxy, where all the self-confidence in the world was present, all the slights were a thing of the past and he could properly express himself.
Antuofermo I - Hagler's poorest ever outing. Antuofermo II - Marv at his ruthless best.

Re: Floyd looks ready - Ortiz is in trouble!!!
Ortiz will get absolutely destroyed i dont reckon he will win a round. Mayweather should fight bad so Pacquiao mans up and fights him after lol.

Can't always tell how great a fighter's condition is by sight.......
Fact is the guy keeps having long layoffs and isn't a young man anymore...
One of these days he gets found out...Just hope it isn't against Khan or Manny..
As for Ortiz think he's pretty ordinary and shouldn't be a problem...
You never know though....Floyd will suffer from his ring rust sooner or later and be there for the taking..but probably not yet!!

I think Floyd is a bit too savvy to continue after his skills have faded. I reckon he has got 2/3 more fights left in him before he throws the towel in for good. 4 more fights at a push.

Point taken! However a bit like Dazz said Floyd is his own greatest critic and he is very candid about how he feels. He has admitted that at the beginnignof camp he was a bit too rusty for his liking and his sharpness was off! Howver about 2 weeks ago he said everyone in camp now felt he was looking razor sharp. However he felt he ther was more to come..... thats bad news for Ortiz... it is Floyds vanity and ego that pushes him to contionoulsy up it in training. Howvere where i do agree is that to allow anothe lay off before a Manny fight would harm him at this stage in his career! I have afeeling that this now feels like an intensity of mind set that will see him in the gym right up to a fight with Manny! BTW his cast of sparring partners is awesome... great prep, and to be doing 6 to 12 mins nonstop and rotating guys like Ouma and Petreson in there is really impressive!

Re: Floyd looks ready - Ortiz is in trouble!!!
Think his preparation in the gym is one thing you will never have to worry about. Remember the old editor of Boxing News Claude Abraham watched one of Floyd's sessions and said in 30 years of being around gyms he had never seen anyone who trains like Floyd, said the intensity was phenomenal.

Primetime willing to put it on PPV! That's about the long and short of it. Would have got less than 100k viewers on Sky I reckon so just wouldn't be worth it to outbid them.azumah HOF wrote:Yeh cant wait!!!!!! is it true its primetime and not Sky shwoing it in the UK (the fight that is) if so how the hell did Sky let that one go!!!

Perfectly true Zoomy, basically on the back of Sky downgrading Khan Mcloskey (because pre orders had been pitiful I should add) Golden Boy have had a bit of a falling out with Sky and took this one to Primetime, not great news as a fan because the coverage isn't as good and it is a fee on top of the sky subscription for every decent fight, being a boxing fan could be about to get pretty costly.

How so?
£15 for a broadcast that is below the standard Sky have set and at the same cost?

Got to agree Scott, at the minute you get to pay more for an inferior product, never a good thing.
