Norwich Vs Doncaster going ahead and match preview Empty Norwich Vs Doncaster going ahead and match preview

Norwich City’s Championship clash against Doncaster Rovers will go ahead as planned despite the Yorkshire side trying to get the match postponed.

Rovers have been beset by injury problems recently and chairman John Ryan contacted the Football League to see whether the match could be called off.

However, Doncaster would face the prospect of a large fine and possible points deduction if they couldn’t fulfil the fixture and therefore the decision has been made that the match will go ahead.

TEAM NEWS

Leon Barnett has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, while Chris Martin and Simon Lappin are also set to miss out with a hamstring And Appendix problem respectivaly.

Doncaster midfielders James Coppinger (calf) and Ryan Burge (ankle) are the latest Rovers players to be ruled out.

Billy Sharp (groin) is out along with a host of others, including James Hayter, Ryan Mason and James Chambers.

MATCH PREVIEW
Norwich's penchant for injury-time goals has seen them pick up vital points this season. But the tables were somewhat turned on them on Saturday at Leeds, whose late equaliser denied the Canaries a potentially crucial win.

Having drawn against one of their promotion rivals, fifth-placed City now face a Doncaster team that has been in freefall and seem to be in danger of drifting into a relegation battle unless they can arrest their slump.

Rovers' 3-0 defeat at Swansea at the weekend continued their wretched run and followed last week's 6-0 mauling at the hands of Ipswich. They have dropped to 17th in the table - eight points above the drop zone.

Doncaster have lost seven of their last eight matches, have gone four games without scoring, and are not being helped by injuries to key players. The absence of forwards Billy Sharp and James Hayter has hit them particularly hard.
