Luke Charteris

Newport Gwent Dragons have announced that Wales international lock Luke Charteris will be their new captain.

But the 28-year-old will not take up the role until he returns from Wales duty at the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

Makes sense. Tom Willis isn't first choice at 2 when Burns is about. The only other guy who would've also been in the frame would be Ash Smith, but I'd definitely have given it to Long Dog.

i think ash will captain alot in charters's absence, however they need the captain to be a player who is guaranteed a place in the side, with them NOT giving it to smith it does alot to suggest that we are indeed going to sign andy tuilagi....on the issue of signings we are also linked with SA player ton chavanga (wing)
