Andrea Petkovic
In the desperate need for new promising players, it looks like women tennis may find some good news in Andrea Petkovic.
A late developer who is discovering her full potential aged 24, Pekovic finds herself in the final of an important event, placed 11th in the world and with significant chances of making it to the WTA finals.
Her game is not spectacular but certainly powerfull and consistent, she also shows leadership traits and confidence that are in great shortage in the current top 10.
A top 4 for 2012?

Don't hold much hope for her. It's also remarkable how many promising WTA players suddenly fly under the radar after a honeymoon period. I thought the likes of Vaidisova, Cornet and Oudin were the future but was proven very wrong.

I too wasn't much impressed initially, but objectively her 2011 is impressive and her game really strong. Also I don't see many other young hopes that may fare better than her in 2012.

Re: Andrea Petkovic
Among the ones who have shown promise in 2011 also include Sabine Lisicki and Kvitova besides Petkovic. I just hope they continue playing well but should admit that I have not seen not a lot of matches so cannot comment on their consistency across surfaces and against different players...

Pavlyuchenkova is another 1 I think will be very dangerous for the next season(s) coming.

I am of the same opinion. Pavl is one of the biggest deal in WTA for the future, there are some reserves on the way she moves and the fact she is clearly overweight. Considering her young age there is probablly time to work on both issues.
I think one of the strenght of Petkovic is that she is actually one of the fittest over there.
I would pick her to win at Bejin tomorrow in a very tight match. let's see.

And we want to see that winners dance more often too!
Will be interesting to see who wins the final given the winner will go into the top 10. I think Pet will edge it but will be close.

Schiavone and Li Na are the ones for the future.
Granted, they aren't young, but they have shown they can handle the pressure, and will likely dominate for years to come should Serena call it a day.

Chris Bowers' memorable gem, on Radvanska: "If she was a cookie, you would want to bite into it", did I hear right??!!

Radwanska is so cute, I watched her match today and she looking very pretty! Anyways, she beat Petkovic today playing very well - 32 winners to 12 unforceds and together they did Petko dance at the end. Nice touch!
