Hi there - new poster!

Have just made my first post on here, so thought that maybe it would be polite to introduce myself too!

I'm a lady golfer, based in Wiltshire. After years of driving my son around to Junior tournaments, I dabbled with lessons on and off for a couple of years, then began playing regularly around two and half years ago. Currently play off 28 - down from 34 at the start of the year - so am not destined for great things, but I love the game.

I think you'll find a fellow Wiltshire-ite or two ("JAS" for one) on the board - get your character reference on JAS from our friend "drive4show". Not sure about either of them to be honest.

Welcome to the board. My wife plays too but very infrequently, trouble is our course has just closed so we'll have to wait until spring next year to play again.

SR is Super Realist by the way and not Shotrock although that will become quite apparent in the near future.

so is Mary a product of the continuos threads by mods on ladies golf recently.

I've been viewing the forum for a while now, so my appearance has no connection with the ladies golf related threads. Finally plucked up courage to dip a toe in the water - hope it's not too shark infested.

Welcome aboard Mary: in amongst the in-fighting (SR v MAC - those two are like Hinge & Bracket) (attempts at) wit and regurgitated arguments about Slow Play, Tiger Woods, crap English golfers ad infinitum, there are some excellent articles on here. Can definitely rubber-stamp D4S's assertion that JAS is an excellent golfer and Wing Man - just don't get him a) doing press-ups in the restaurant or b) singing old Bryan Adams songs when he's had too many whiskys

As Gael said - thank goodness for another female poster!!!! Welcome - and enjoy the banter.

Welcome Mary. You'll find the usual cross section of people on here, although being a "safe environment" to vent, many come across as larger than life.

Enjoy the banter and the advice. Although on the latter point, you often will get perfectly credible but diametrically opposed views. That's part of the fun of golf .. and the board.

I wouldn't be surprised if she's been scared off already. The golf board has had a remarkably unpleasant vibe to it in recent days.

Agree Marcus, it has lost a bit of it's fun.

Have been enjoying reading the posts, but not too much to shout about myself, as my game was awful at the weekend. I think it was a problem with my grip - hopefully get it looked at before I'm out again.

P.S. I've already noted a few names that I'll need to keep any eye on!

I remember her well as she said 'if you want to see me, just come to the NEC as I'm modelling some stuff, and you can also see me at motor shows around Europe in skimpy clothing' ..... Mav was straight in, trying to organise trips and photo's

At least my golf on saturday was.

Oh very nice Mary, I haven't played there since they built the 4th set of 9 holes and apparently there's now a short game facility that's the envy of the county and beyond. One of the top teaching pros in the country as well so no excuses for your handicap not to come crashing down

I remember playing particularly well on one of the nines but cant remember what colour it was, the one that goes left as you look from the clubhouse.

Jas is JJ still the pro there?

Not sure Doon, I just assumed he was still there as I hadn't heard otherwise. No doubt Mary can confirm.

No no no gael, you're supposed to play golf during the week, then post here at the weekends, leaving the course clear for the men.
