Sampras never won RG, the most important tournament on clay.

Nadal never won the YEC, the most important tournament indoors.

Hard to decide.

In terms of looking like bambi on ice, Nadull indoors.

He'll probably still win Fed tho

maybe it is something to do with when in the year that tournament is? I mean perhaps if it was earlier in the season when he is fresher and is on good form could rafa pull it out but as it isnt he has to find the solution

Rafa is way better on his worst surface than Sampras on his worst surface. Rafa is not finished yet, and its very likely he will win the indoor masters or WTF some time in the future.
