Happily, each of them has the foreseen amount of paws/legs provided by nature.

How many legs/ paws are in the bus?

(8x2)+((7x7)x4)+((7x7)x7x4)=
16+196+1372=1584

You say that each bag has a cat and that they have 7 kittens - you dont say that the kittens are on board.

Which means there are 212 legs and a further 196 paws (408 in total)

7 mother cats per bag = 49 mother cats. Each with 7 kittens = 343 which makes 392 cats in total Each wth 4 legs = 1568

Then 7 kids with 2 legs = 14 + driver = 2 legs.

I think DT got the right answer but with the wrong reasoning - there are no kittens on board but you miscounted the mother cats.

I thought that the kittens might not be on board, but if that's the case then there might also be additional passengers on board so you may as well pluck any random number out of the air. The riddle is too open to interpretation.

That gives them 343 kittens per child.

343 + 49 = 392

392 x 7 (children) = 2744

2744 x 4 (legs) 10,976

Plus kids and drvier (16)

10,976 + 16 = 10,992

Yeah, that's the one 10,992. Only worked out the cats for one kid in my initial answer.
