Re: Outer Hebrides
I played at Stornoway Golf Club on Lewis last year.
It's very nice, not at all what I expected. Didn't expect trees, and there quite a lot of trees. Green fee was about £20, well worth it. Nice people in the clubhouse too.

Played Harris.
A little tricky 9-holer, with a trust box.
Superb fun.

Re: Outer Hebrides
Quite fancy playing the re-discovered Tom Morris course at Askernish.
One of the places I am booked into has corporate membership of Harris so the clubs are definately going.
The Barra course sounds good as well. Going in May so I'd better take yellow balls as I have found that the daisies on island course fairways can be a problem

Re: Outer Hebrides
Cheers OS
Going to play Ullapool on the way up, I walked over it about 5 years ago and told her that I would come back and play one day. Beautiful little 9 holer, right on the edge of Loch Broom.
George....I would not have expected trees either!

Re: Outer Hebrides
Lewis wasn't at all what I expected for some reason.
I thought it would be like Orkney and Shetland, rather barren.
Then I got there and it was green, with some wooded areas. It occurred to me later I shouldn't have been surprised -
Step we gaily on we go
Heel for heel and toe for toe
Myrtle green and bracken brown
Past the shielings through the town
On to Marie's wedding
