who would be in your worst test XI of the year. Who has had an awful year (GREGERS NOT KP HE AVERAGED ABOUT 65-70 THIS YEAR

CF, why have you picked Ryan Harris? He's played 3 Tests and taken 15 wickets at 17.33 and generally worked hard whenever I've seen him

Nice team shelsey, and you're right on the Hughes omission and the unfair inclusion of Harris.

Some decent shouts from you cricketfan, but one or two dodgy ones. Couldn't let you do a list without complaining

No England players, then? In years gone by, they would have dominated such a list! Such illuminaries as Ian Greig, Igglesdon, McCague and Pattinson would have sprung to mind.
My own particular "favourite hate" was Foster of Essex, who annually was brought back on the preposterous notion that he "bowls well at Lord's" and then would go all round the ground as teams raked up 653 for four declared. Whereupon, Foster would slink back to Southend, to await another humiliation the following year.
Mischievously, you would have to ask who was the WORST England player in 2011 in an, admittedly, fine team? Dare one whisper it....Strauss? or perhaps.....Swann ?

Strauss and Swann are actually the only candidates, which is more a reflection of just how fine the others have been, as opposed to their own failings!

Strauss had a poor year, Swann was average at times at others he was sublime. KP had a poor year in ODI's yet again... Broad was woeful at times. And then there is Bopara!

Apart from that the whole England side excelled

This is Test based yet you still feel a need to get a kP dig in change the record

KP didn't do too badly in the Tests. I seem to remember a 203 not out and a 175!

He said in ODI's, Sir Fred, which is completely off-topic.

KP had a tremendous year in Tests, averaging in excess of 60. and with a couple of big, big scores.

I believe it was changed to a Worst England player of 2011 debate Fists. KP was woeful in ODI's again.

Test wise I gave Strauss, Swann and Broad as underachievers and Bopara as woeful

Gregers you are obsessed. Theres plenty of players who had as bad or worse years in ODIs than KP and we arent even talking about them.

gregers we are talking about tests, and KP had a brilliant year in tests! the anti kp talk is ridiclous on a test match thread!

ah Mukund, the only person who could compete with Hughes in a who can get out first in english conditions competition

Mukund wasn't as quick to get out as the man who replaced him - remember Sehwag's 3 innings lasting a total of 8 balls? At least Mukund could hang around for a bit while not scoring very many. Sehwag's a contender for the team, found a bit of consistency against the WI but was pretty poor against SA & Eng - ave of about 30 for the year including WI games.

On discussions about KP don't forget there's a very useful emoticon

Hughes & Mukund - a decent opening partnership. Harby is a good option - considering he used to be quite good.

Adnan Akmal seems a bit of a harsh call. He's had an okay year with the bat, and isn't as 'unreliable' behind the stumps as his brother. Of course, he is an Akmal, so maybe not that harsh.

Standouts for me include Suresh Raina and Phil Hughes, both of whom look like they might get out at any time.
