Sports Personality of the Year
Ok then, who are you voting for?
My heart has gone with Darren but my head says Andy Murray. Heart won out.
Incidentally, anyone else think McIlroy looks like "Brains" with yon glasses?
F.A.B.

From Coco to Brains in one fell swoop.
I'm voting for Loooooooooook. Golf history maker.
I think Cavendish will win though.

Not so sure about Cavendish Doon. Nothing to do with his ability. Just that I don't think cycling enjoys a big enough fan base in the UK ... or does it?

Would like to see one of the golfers win it but seeing as that is fairly unlikely I will be voting for Alastair Cook...I played cricket in the same team as Graham, his Dad, for several seasons a few years ago. Graham was also a useful left handed opening bat...not quite as good as his son though!

Seriously though, if its for sports Personality, its got to be Clarke, with MA Jimenez getting the overseas award.

Cav has been odds on for weeks though. How come Michael Owen has been shown so much. [u]

No women nominated for the awards but there seemed to be plenty doing the presentations.
What a ham fisted effort from the BBC to address the imbalance.
Good result though, nice speech. He obviously did not think he would win!

The programme gets worse every year. Jake Humphrey should stick to blue peter while all the interviews were cringeworthy and the hakka was a total embarrassment.

Right result though I think although I'd have been pleased if Farah had won.

I thought the three nominees for Young Sports Personality all being women was an attempt to redress the balance. I think Tom Lewis should have been in the last three at least!

Tom Lewis? Last three of what? Young person? He's 21 not 17

Oh, right, he is 21. That really is ancient. I guess he can get his pipe and slippers ready and think back to the good old days when he was young.

No, of course he isn't ancient, but young personality has always been one for the teenagers, e.g. Tom Daley, Murray, Rooney, the girl who won yesterday. I think daley would have been embarrassed to win it at his age, not that he's ancient but he's certainly not a child which is what previous winners have pretty much been.

Re: Sports Personality of the Year
I see Cavendish got 49%, Clarke 12% and rory only 3% (third last).
It was good to see Luke made the effort to come to the UK to attend. Can't imagine he was short of air miles.

The total votes for the three golfers was around 78000, still well short of cavendish.
Was about to type that I was not sure how clarke got ahead of Donald but then realised the UK populations general ingnorance when it comes to golf.

Mac
I think that Darren's vote was boasted by the sympathy element. He's a likeable guy, has been to the edge of the abyss in golfing (and probably personal) terms and to see him in tears when he went home to his kids - well even I was nearly in tears. In golfing terms Luke has done better (he also had a personal loss in his dad) And his wife having a new baby must have been a bit distracting. But the vast majority of the voters are non-golfers.

Re: Sports Personality of the Year
There is an awful lot of people in the UK who only watch the Open & Masters and that's it................obviously people that know golf understand what a year Donald had, but everyone in the country had a vote!!
