Overall, a great top 15 I have to say. Floyd Mayweather has now well and truly established himself as the 606v2 P4P Number 1. This is probably as a result of Manny Pacquiao’s controversial victory in his previous bout with Juan Manuel Marquez, whose own performance despite suffering a controversial points defeat has elevated him to the P4P P3 position
Notable mention to the recently crowned super six champion Andre Ward, who has jumped up to P6. 2012 could be a big year for Andre Ward; a potential top 5 P4P ranking is on the horizon if he continues to dispatch quality opposition in the SMW/LH categories.
Miguel Cotto has also returned to the top 15 at P11, after dispatching Antonio Margarito with relative ease. Other than this, we have a brand new fighter breaking the top 15 in Saul Alvarez; with many interesting match up’s available for Canilo in 2012- it will be interesting to see how far this kid can go.
Unfortunately the biggest fallers along with Giovanni Segura (falling from P11 to P23 after his convincing defeat) are the Brits. With Amir Khan and Carl Froch dropping out of the top 15 after their recent defeats.
If the fights can be made, 2012 has a lot in store for fight fans. With emerging talents such as Adrien Broner, Brandon Rios, Andre Ward and Saul Alvarez making significant strides in 2011. Boxing appears to have a healthy stable of fighters to take up the mantle once Pacquiao and Mayweather decide to hang up the gloves.
As always, many thanks to everyone who voted.

Good list mate but I would have Brook higher. Imo he would beat Khan and Peterson. I reckon Pacquiao is on the slide now Marquez should be above him lets be honest Marquez beat him but got robbed.

Mate. Brook needs to fight a higher calibre of opposition before we can go rate him higher up. No doubt he has potential, but these rankings should take into account current level of achievement as well. Albeit, I think Brook gets beaten by the likes of Tim Bradley.
The argument for Pacquiao is that over the three fights, none of them were complete shut outs and some have Pacquiao as being the better fighter over the trilogy. So keeping him at P2, does have some justification. I would also rate his achievements as greater than Marquez (who was resoundingly beaten by FMJ).

Pretty good list. No real major arguments really. I think Bute is maybe to low and Peterson too high but aside form that I wouldnt argue with anything too much. Most of my differences would be minor.

Think the top 15 which we were aiming for is pretty hard to argue with but the fact that Kell Brook can rank so highly just because 1 person decides to inexpicably rank him as their number 8 or something makes a bit of a mockery out of what is otherwise a very good list.
Not sure how much added difficulty it would be, but maybe a thought for next time would be to disqualify fighters who don't get votes from say 3 different people which would maybe help eliminate this sort of thing.
Even still great job ATG and thanks for all the effort put in.

Thanks Alan. I have considered implementing this in the past, but the question is where do you draw the line? I would take anything from P21 downwards with a pinch of salt. To be fair, Brook belonging in the top 25-50 fighters isn't completely obsurbed.
Will consider implementing a rule if a fighter doesn't receive at least two votes he will be excluded.
I wonder if the board have got it right re: Segura, Froch and Khan? Goes to show how defeat just isnt tolerated in boxing today.

Brook is british. Nuff said. I'm sure Canadians would have Pascal and Bute in their top 10!

I agree with that totally. Home town decision by waingro who claims to hate them. Brook is kwali'y and would destroy Khan and school Jones but not floyd would destroy him because floyd is kwali'y and paqiwoa would destroy brook because paqiwao is also kwali'y but floyd would school paqiwao because floyd skooled markez and markez woz robbed against paqiwao imo. lol. Inni' blud?

I definitely think a requirement of 2 or 3 votes would improve the list... I would probably have Brook in my top 50, but the fact he is in our list above bonafide proven World level fighters just takes a little credibility in my opinion.
Though for the record I think within the next 18 months Brook will probably be nailed on top 15

Not anymore. Although I hear a lot about a youngster from Bokum (Accra ghana - same area Azumah, Clottey, Kotey and most ghanian boxers come from). I'll try and get his name. A few saffers to keep an eye on also. One welter who is ranked in the top 10 but in all honesty he is seriously protected.

It was about Nkosinathi Joyi the guy can't get a fight. He's a world champion at minimumweight there was a piece about him in either boxing news or boxing monthly. His TV deal was cancelled and he is left fighting once a year for pennies. Is this something that happens a lot or is he just unlucky?

Small guys hardly get a look in unless there's a story with them. Baby Jake was a national hero because he was the shortest active boxer. It helps that he was damn good. He went on forever also.
Joyi should condsider relocating to the far east where small guys are big.

In the East they don't want anything to do with the guy. He's a freak at the weight he can seriously bang and is very good technically. Ioka is his big challenger at the weight but he hasn't had 10 fights yet and is the next big Asian star so he won't be allowed anywhere near Joyi.

In that case Joyi has serious management problems. I'll be honest as I've never heard of him. But if he is that good, then his management are doing a very poor job with him.
Also he hasn't fought out of SA and he isn't getting any younger at age 29. Minimum weight? How heavy is that? He's also a Xhosa so he must be good.

Only Giovanni Segura, Kel Brook, Humberto Soto, Eric Morales and Victor Ortiz received one vote.
But as I keep saying, take P20 downwards with a pinch of salt- this excercise is to establish the top 15.

I would love to talk to southpaw again after Marquez schooled Pacquiao and he used to call him the most overrated fighter based on no evidence whatsoever.
Maybe he was Skip Bayless in disguise?
