First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Denis Hickie, Shane Horgan, Ben Morgan and Selorm Kuadey above the bar!

I thought that was you to his left MrsP, but like you say, you were facing away from the camera so I wasn't sure.

Howya As. Unbelievable achievement for the Chief mate. Have to respect what Rob Baxterr is doing down there.

My bro had a band called,

"The Mighty One-Offs"

as they had formed for one particular occasion. Then they kept getting asked to play in other places.

they considered changing it to,

"The Mighty Now-and-Agains"

but it didn't quite have the same ring to it!

Got your text Gibbo.

Second time this weekend I had tears in my eyes - last night for Connacht and tonight because it all just clicked for Munster.

I thougt the things said by some Saints people during the week were silly and petulant. Did they spur Munster on? I don't think so.

Last week Munster were poor, but they were just an inch here and a few inches there short of a good performance. Tonight it all came together.

I was going to crow to Gibson about who plays sexshy rugby now, but I can't be bothered. Three Irish teams in the QFs; even Connacht, lonely, unloved (by the IRFU) Connacht, dismantled the leading team of the English League.

How good a weekend has it been

Congrats to Scarlets and Exeter too.

Brilliant stuff Kia. Disappointment for Ulster today, but ultimately the positives far outweigh the negatives (especially when we are in the last eight!).

Sounds sadistic, but I'm really pleased how gutted the players are because it shows the standards we are setting for ourselves. Time was a BP in Clermont would have been party time. The players are all devastated we didn't get the win.

Good interview with Rory Best here;

http://www.ercrugby.com/eng/matchdaytv/play/media/id/10592

As for Munster, well! They obviously decided they were sick of watching Leinster and Ulster get the big wins over the English clubs and they needed to join the fun! Zebo is a star. We've never had more momentum going into the Six Nations. If Kidney squanders that, I'll really start to wonder.

Kia,

It was disturbing. Ive been watching Munster, like you - for eons now. What happened there? Are they on culchie-speed or wot?

Best and sexshyist performance of this HC - by far. (this really hurts)

Earls was majestic. As was Zebo. As were the rest, in truth.

Incredible performance. A marker. The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub - Page 19 1710857839

Spoken like a true rugby fan Gibbo. yes they were magnificent tonight.

It's all down to the coaching - Axel is the man there. He has been earning his stripes so well with Munster, moving from defence to attack to foprwards. I expect him to take over from Mcgahan when McGahan goes. Axel is doing it the RIGHT way - get your experience in the shadows of someone else who will take the flak from fans and the meejah when things don't go right. he will have had experience of coaching each unit within the team and as you well know he is Munster to the very core of his being.

Now need some serious advice. I asked duing the week for pubs in Leeds where my lads could watch the games. Well they haven't (they are on a birthday bash (bender?) (things a mother shouldn't know about).

Eldest has asked me to keepion our sky box the games I think are worth watching.

I have

Connacht
Leinster
Ulster
Munster
games recorded, but no room for tomorrow's games. need to delete one or two.

Which to keep?

That is it. I was comparing Munster to Liverpool way back. Once they lost their boot-room boys, the very core of what they really are - they faltered.

Axel, has firmly put the Munster wheels back on the road.

And its great to see.

We were getting bored without decent opposition to play with. Now , we have to step it up another level too.

Fanks Munster. The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub - Page 19 3610695981

Truth will set you free, Gibson. Once you realise that you are not the only team that can play sexshy rugby then you can just go out and express yourselves.

I see someone has suggested Zebo as a bolter for the irish 6Ns team ... he certainly showed the full package today. Although I generally HATE grandstanding by players when scoring tries, I was inclined to forgive him his little display when he got his hat-trick.

No Notch. We look like a team just going through the motions and our weak pool hasn't helped. Last year, we got through the hardest HC pool ever. We were stealed and primed, ready for Tigers and Toulouse. This year? Im concerned. We have not really been tested yet. Ye 2 - have.

We are SO ready to be hijacked. Its a classic case, waiting to happen.

Think Joe should make them watch the Connacht, Munster and Ulster games. Repeatedly.

I'm worried. Even with a home QF. Our HC heads are not on.

Yet.

We'll see what gives in the QF & SF draws tomorrow and after the 6-N.

I agree with a lot of that Gibbo. I feel like a broken record-player at times (doesn't work with CDs and other modern music media) but chasing kicks, getting to the breakdown quickly wins games; and if it doesn't it makes it an awful lot harder for the other guys to win. That's what Ulster did last week, Connacht last night and Munster today. The "wisdom" which says you can't win at rugby without a scrum was exposed tonight. Munster have been winning for years without a good scrum, but their lineout, breakdown and restarts have always been bang on the money.

Leinster sat back today from any number of close encounters, theye were to some extentjust going through the motions. However, they CAN turn it on when it is needed and they have the players and skills to do it, so I shouldn't be too concerned.

All-Ireland Final?
