Who is this guy? Heard bad things about him, guessing he hasn't got a lot of fans. Can you guys give me details on why he is meant to be controversial and your views on him.

I liked him in ECW wasnt he a bounty hunter as well

One of the original ECW nut jobs. The relaunched ECW wouldn't have let him near in WWE.
He does however have a strange habit of teaching people who are acting like fools a lesson, punching out Brian Knobbs for being drunk and annoying. And teaching a fat 17 year old not to try being a wrestler. Mass Transit incident as KB said will give you more details, though New Jack probably gave the kid what he deserved following the aftermath, and ECW being dragged through the mud.
The guy is a lunatic though.

In October 2004, New Jack, wrestling for Thunder Wrestling Federation, was scheduled to fight fellow wrestler William Jason Lane. During the match, New Jack pulled out a metal blade from his camouflage wrestling attire, and stabbed Lane fourteen times; this action caused New Jack to receive various felony charges, including for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated assault to commit murder.[3] New Jack claims that the two met prior to the match and agreed to use a "piece of metal" to inflict injury. Despite this, a police officer who was recording the incident stated that it looked like it went "past a routine wrestling match." The promoter of the event, Mr. Maurice Williams, claims the event was never intended to be hard-core.
