The aim of this thread is that I will post a YouTube link up to a song that I am a fan of. The next person that comments rates the song out of ten and then puts his own link up and so on and so on! Hope it picks up, its a way for everyone to be introduced to others music tastes!

I clicked the link and as the adverts played I saw Kate Nash and Florence and the Machine in the suggestions and was instantly skeptic about this song. And was right to be. 6/10.

Way too good to have been tucked away as a B side. It's a reminder of how good Oasis were in the early days. 8/10.

(Having said that, I've never been a huge fan of Noel's singing voice!)

Wow - the 60s are back and their name is Tame Impala.

Would be less annoying if they didn't insist on using so much echo in the vocals. Less parpy keyboards would also help. 6/10.

Despite the metalness (not a metal fan usually) I enjoyed that, built itself quite well, singer sounded like Chad Kroeger which I quite like as despite Nickleback's averageness, I like Chad's voice. 7/10

I love the Pixies. Bossa Nova isn't seen as their best album, but I think it's great. 'Dig for Fire' gets 9/10 from me.

Surfer Rosa is certainly my fav album of theirs. Their songs are so subtle. I find Nirvana to be a poor incarnation of them and found some of their songs totally ripped off the Pixies. The Hello section in Smells Like Teen Spirit is a rip off of Gigantic Hey Paul section

It's weird. I remember listening to Bleach and Nevermind and thinking what a rip off! So much of the style and even lyrics were so Pixie-inspired. I guess aside from the quality of drumming from Grohl and loudness of the guitars makes it seem different.

It has always angered me the praise Nirvana got given that to me they never really re-invented the wheel. They are like Oasis. Good at ripping off over bands material.

The whole loud - quiet - loud thing they probably took from the Pixies, but I think it was more because they were fans than because they were trying to rip them off.

I am all for bands being inspired by others. Radiohead quote Pink Floyd as a major influence, yet they vary in styles. Oasis always quoted the Smiths and Stone Roses and yet had the crappiest bass player in a band I have ever known.

I draw the line when bands literally copy the work of others and try to pass it off as their own. Joey Santiago was a quality guitarist, though I think Cobain was better with solo's. Santiago did some top riffs. Where is my Mind, Bone Machine, Velouria, Caribou to name a few.

In recent memory I recall The View and The Kooks. Totally copied the image of The Libertines, yet in sound they were so different and quite off the mark from sounding anything like them.

They also had one of the most limited lead guitarists ever. It's just as well Noel could write a tune.

I did like how Noel talked like the great guitarist he wasn't. All Around The World the worst song I have heard from an established band.

And then he was talking about suing Hearsay because their song used the same chords!

but it sounded better than Noel's original.

Sorry, CJ, but I really didn't like that. Nothing happened! I like quiet meditative music, but that was just boring, in my opinion. I might have liked it more if he didn't do the high bits, I don't think he has the voice for it. 4/10.
