606V2 King Of The Ring.

Hi guys,

Some of you may know that King Beer is the 606 KOTR from near the end of last year, this was sparked from a competition i ran from another posters idea and carried it on and eventually KB was crowned KOTR, hence his name "King Beer". I have decided to run the same competition on 606V2 so we can crown a new one specifically for here. I understand this could be classed as a popularity competition but it isn't in my eyes, people can vote for who they damn please and the person who wins will be the most popular anyway.

Anyways, i will be thinking over the next few days whilst i get responses from you guys on wheather you would like to take part or not. All you have to do is sign yourself up on this thread and if you have any feedback or ideas as to how this can work then please let me know, also on this thread.

On a side note i am only posting it in here to start with, then the competition will spill over into off topic so it does not clog up the Wrestling board because it has minimal reference to Wrestling really!

So, it's over to you from here and i will count up the amount of people when i feel we have enough to move forward and progress with this.

I think Dashing and Milky should be either side of the bracket to keep us apart till the final confrontation to end all confrontataions haha.

I have a genuine idea though to make this less of a popularity contest - set it out like King of the ring (8 participants or 16) and pair people off then the reigning king of the ring (King Beer) gives a topic for each pair to debate over for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes the thread turns into a voting contest for 5 minutes - who's answer did you find the best. A draw could lead to double elimination!

So for example:-

Dashing vs Milky

Question - Who is the best techincal wrestler to ever grace the WWE and why?

Just an idea - or you could always have the questions for round 1 all the same to save time?

The trouble with that is, although a good idea, is that alot of people will have the same wrestler and defeats the object of having a debate if they think that the same wrestler is the best technical one.

I agree Milky but that was just an example - it could be something like:-

How would you retire the Undertaker? or "Should Managers be a permanent fixture again?" etc

Another possible problem with that is timing.

You can't guarantee that they will both be on for 10 minutes. And who decides who wins the debate?

Like the sound of it but agree with DT that 10 mins is a bit of a hard time frame to do it within.

What I'd do is announce the topic to both parties and ask them both to them pm their viewpoint.
Both then get posted by the OP without reference to who posted what (similar to my music cup).
Then it's based on the views rather than the popularity of the person, the poll remains for one day for others to vote on.

I like it. Good idea. 10 minutes may be a bit raw like you say as a) one person may not be online b) it might take you longer than 10 minutes to write your reply and c) it also removes any chance of popularity voting due to the fact that no names will be conencted with the topic until voting is over.

Hmm that is an awesome idea, the trouble is finding enough topics, but at the moment it sounds easy because there isn't that many but i will see how many i actually get interested.

Although I will go out early this year, as I feel the wave of the popularity zeitgeist has gone.

I want KB to take part but he won't, might just put him in it anyway, especially if we need to make up numbers.

But if you need someone to actually create an article Miky, just adding his name in to make up numbers won't work. You can't force him to create an article.

I will most likely need some help running it as i'm not the best at these things even though it's not really that hard.

If you want to do it, then you will need to ask the participants when they will be available to have the debate.

You will then have to moderate the debate (ie make sure that if you are allowing back and forth debate, then people stick to the times etc).

as the organiser, you choose the topic and who gets what side of the argument. (ie who is for and who is against).

Set it up as a poll and leave it open for a few hours.

you might even want to consider asking for a subsection from the boxing mods/ admin.
