Madden 13 Fan Cover Vote

It's March which means the world of NCAA Basketball is focussed on March Madness, so last year with a March Madness style bracket EA and ESPN decided to let fans pick who features on the cover and Peyton Hillis came out beating Michael Vick in the final.

This years bracket, like last year, was revealed on SportsNation yesterday, 28 teams have one representative, the Jets and Patriots have two because of Tebow was voted in as the Broncos choice and Brandon Lloyd was voted in as Rams choice. The players are seeded on last seasons stats, votes received in the play in round and how well the Madden marketing guys see how players would fit the franchise, and here it is.

1st half

You can vote here, voting is open from today until next Thursday (28th March), each round lasts a week and you can vote for your favourites once every day. The winner and cover will be revealed on SportsNation on April 25th (26th for us with ESPN America).

done it yesterday, I went for Newton, Freeney, McCoy, Fitz, Willis, MJD, Revis, Cruz, Rodgers, Johnson, Green, Brees, Johnson, Foster, Allen and Gronk

Newton Freeney Bush Fitz Wllis, MJD, Revis< Cruz Haden Megatron, AJ Brees Foster, gronk and BEAST MODE!!!!

Think Beast Mode takes it. Him or Timmy.

Just keep Fitz off the cover. He was on that dual player cover with Polamalu that one year and Troy took the injury bullet.

How flippin' stupid that Lloyd was a Rams choice. He didnt have a contract longer than the end of the season and we knew the chances of him staying were slim. I think it was between Long and him, and im glad it was Lloyd who won out. Obviously the majority of Rams fans are madden curse believers and went all out for Lloyd...still bloody stupid!

Won't be Tebow as he won't even be a starter next year. I'd like to see Eli on there and the curse strike!

I reckon its odds on Newton gets it.

As much as I'd like Cruz to get it I'm not too fussed. I don't believe in the curse but it'd feel a bit cheesy being a Giants fan and having a Giants player on the cover.

Anyone from Newton, Lynch, Calvin Johnson, Foster, Forte and Stevie Johnson would all be worthy of it.

dont worry, even the madden curse cant stop beast mode

Thinking about it, they should do what some magazine's do and do multiple covers, even one for each team so you can buy one for the team you support. Maybe not practical for shops, but online orders maybe?

don't know so much, guys like lynch who only really become really good during one season could be struck with the curse, hope not though, exciting player

people like lynch need a good o-line, if u watchedd seattle last year u would have seen break tackles in teh back field and only get a yard because the offensive line was shocking, tom cable has worked wonders and truly unleashed teh beast,only leaving trials of skittles behind him as he destroys denfeses and makes then TASTE THE RAINBOW!

Hillis looked unstoppable too also for a year..............until madden came out

BTW I doubt Lynch gets it as Alexander was the 07 cover. 2 Seahawks in 5 years? Same with Rodgers - Favre was on the 09 cover.

I'd actually go with Peyton manning and you can almost guarantee the curse would take effect!

Madden himself in 00 - had heart attack didn't he? Don't think it was in 01, but...
01 George - Don't think he got hurt that year?
02 Culpepper - injured and out of the league within a couple of years
03 Faulk - Don't think he got hurt
04 Vick - Hurt that year IIRC and then he had the dog scandal
05 Lewis - Don't think he got hurt
06 McNabb - Sports hernia IIRC.
07 Alexander - hurt that year and pretty much done.
08 Young - Not sure if he got hurt but you could say cursed anyway!
09 Favre - always hurt!
10 Fitz and Polamalu - Polamalu got injured
11 Brees - not hurt AFAIK but going to suffer this year!
12 Hillis - injured and screwed up his season for himself thereafter

Its not definitive, and given the number of players that do get injured you can't say its a curse, but a lot of Madden cover guys have suffered after going on the box.

Well, it's not just injury -- sometimes a player just has a dip in performance. Some were definitely snake bit, though. Actually, I feel cursed too -- typed this up and then the website glitched and I had to redo it.

• Peyton Hillis (Madden 2012) – hurt his hamstring and had a bad year (on my fantasy team )

• Drew Brees (Madden 2011) – career high interceptions

• Troy Polamalu & Larry Fitzgerald (Madden 2010) – Troy injured his knee and had a bad season and the defending champ Steelers missed the playoffs. Fitz had a great year.

• Brett Favre (Madden 2009) – joined the Jets and had a great year – till it blew up in the stretch and they missed the playoffs

• Vince Young (Madden 2008) – missed 1st game ever (all the way to childhood) – failed to score a TD in the playoffs
  

• Shaun Alexander (Madden 2007) – broke his foot and missed 6 games. Seattle took a step back after going to Super Bowl (on my fantasy team )
  

• Donovan McNabb (Madden 2006) – flouted the curse and promptly got injured. Missed 7 games and Philly missed the playoffs after a 5 year run, including a Super Bowl appearance the previous year (on my fantasy team )

• Ray Lewis (Madden 2005) – zero interceptions and sat out the final game with an injury and the Ravens just missed the playoffs

• Michael Vick (Madden 2004) – broke his leg and the Falcons sucked (on my fantasy team ).

• Marshall Faulk (Madden 2003) – numerous injuries and didn’t break a 1000 yards after 5 straight seasons doing so. Rams didn’t make playoffs after 2 trips to Super Bowl in 3 years

• Daunte Culpepper (Madden 2002) – injured his knee stepping backward and had a terrible year (yes, on my fantasy team )

• Eddie George (Madden 2001) – great season, dropped the ball in the playoffs

• Barry Sanders (Madden 2000) – slated for the cover but told the Lions to eff off and retired – replaced on cover by Dorsey Levans (good seasn but Packers didn’t make the playoffs).

• Garrison Hearst (Madden 1999) – broke his ankle so badly he didn’t play till 2001 (doctors thought at one point they might have to amputate because the bone wouldn’t heal)

I've gone Newton, Cruz, Rodgers & Megatron.

i would go for willis but i fear the curse so please go for cruz guys

Rodgers or Willis deserve it the most as they have been consistently good for a while now but I don't want either to win

I reckon Gronk would look good on the cover. Megatron has a dark visor so can't see the point... :P

Voted for Newton, Willis, Rice (in the hope the curse affects him like it did Hillis) and Johnson.

The vote has come down to the final four with Cam Newton up against Patrick Willis while Calvin Johnson is up against Aaron Rodgers in the other.

Johnson and Willis received the most votes out of them four in the quarter finals.

Not exactly true as Newton had 70% of 447,395 which if I worked it out properly means he got the most votes in the quarter finals. I voted for Willis and Johnson though.

Just as long as Rodgers looses. Fingers crossed

Wouldn't mind seeing Willis get it, defensvie players rarely get it.
