Interesting article I spotted on ESPN. Erik Ainge of the NY Jets has revealed information about his drug usage whilst at the Tennessee Volunteers.

As the article points out, you would have to call into question the drug testing procedures at Tennessee if this was indeed what Ainge was doing. But it does seem that the college QB essentially gets a free pass from the entire campus community.

Now he was in Rehab all of last year, so its been public for a while, but do you guys think such things will stop teams from wanting him (aside from the fact he isn't exactly projected to go anywhere special) or cause the Jets to release him given the scale of things?

Also as a 5th round pick and given the hype surrounding character issues and how teams dig deep for them pre-draft. Does it strike people as odd that seemingly nothing was picked up at all, or that it shows that it can prove near impossible to actually find out such information when the guy is a campus hero?

Well the Jets did see fit to keep him over people with better careers, who had no issues. They obviously know that he has talent. In his interview he stated he has abused substances since 11. So all his career, high school, college and NFL have been while abusing such things as alcohol, prosciption drugs, coke, weed and herion.

So he must be talented to get away with that. Although he obvious is a far worse case, remember Farve had drug trouble, but got over it to break alot of records. Not saying he has same talent, but you dont stick by a player going to rehab and then get rid of him.
