Thank God for the Jeff.
Two superb games yesterday showed why the Jeff is the best league in Europe.
Superb drama from start to finish, any one of the four teams could win the Championship unlike the other competitions being played out at the moment where by the games are always one sided, reliant on who the Ref is and dull.
Thank God the Jeff has saved European rugby from the monotonous games of late.
LONG LIVE THE JEFF

The Tigers game was good but the Quins game whilst dramatic was not of a good standard.

Just realized the premier English team will either someone Ulster put 41 points past or someone who lost to Ireland's 4th province
Nice one

While there is a good chance that the Rabo's premier team is one who lost home and away to England's 3rd best team.
It is a shame that Tigers and Ulster cannot be paired together again though next year. I am sure both teams were disappointed with their away performances.

I actually thought the quins saints game, while dramatic was a very poor standard of rugby!

I only heard the first semi on the radio.
As to the second game - well matches are always better when you are there as the crowd atmosphere affects you and then being partisan also has an impact. While not a classic match by a long way, I thought it was decent enough.

Tend to agree Blue. Quins were very narrow and quite often found themselves with all 15 on one side of the pitch. Saints defence was good but Quins narrow attack must have helped.
Great excitement though. Knockout rugby does not always facilitate classic encounters.

LondonTiger you are spot on - both Ulster and Leicester will look on their away games against each other as their worst HC game

Yeah, we did some things ok at Welford Road but it was very disappointing to see us look so limited with ball in hand and struggle to control our own set piece.

Re: Thank God for the Jeff.
My take on it is this the Jeff is the better league but the Rabo has better teams. By that I mean, teams put out better sides in the Jeff more often so it's a better league but teams like Leinster, Ulster, Ospreys, Edinburgh are probably better than English sides. You could argue whether my point about having to field better sides more often harms thier chances of competing in HCs though.

Re: Thank God for the Jeff.
Once again this is about the Jeff not the HC stay on topic!
The HC is a Cup competition.
The JEFF is the best league in Europe and you know it, even the Rabo adopted the play off style to try and make it more exciting, just goes to prove it doesn't always work!

I to love the Jeff I find it a fantastic show piece of foreign talent,I mentioned on another thread that Dave Pearson seemed to be the only English man on the pitch in the tiger's sarries game

That's a tad unfair to call us English foreign.
Is the Rabo played amongst 'foreign' Irish,Welsh,Scottish players?

Re: Thank God for the Jeff.
Leicester v Sarries was great stuff.
Quins thankfully did over Northampton.
Leinster v Glasgow was great attritional stuff
Ospreys stuffed Munster.
The four sides playing decent rugby are through to their respective finals.
What more could you want?
Long live the Pro 12 and the Premiership.

I 100% agree with this and it is nice to actually see someone give an objective opinion on the matter instead of the usual stuff that comes out of certain people not from England. The HC has proved this year that the Rabo teams are ahead of the Jeff teams but as an overall spectacle the Jeff is a better league. Ignoring the fiasco of the relegation system which has to be sorted out, we went into the final weekend of the season with only one game not meaning anything, every other team had something to play for so whereas the quality of play may not as high as we would like quite a lot of the time, it provides more excitement and tension than the Rabo does.

Re: Thank God for the Jeff.
I really like both competitions to be honest. The JEFF has the more drama though.
Both comps are a credit to rugby but i would'nt say that one is better than the other as they both serve up some really tasty matches.

I'd say the top half of both are competitive and very talented rugby teams. Tension is a personal opinion, I would say there is drama where you look for it, hype it and want it in any league. Top four in both leagues are well matched as some of the best eight teams in Europe.

Completely agree with this except.... Edinburgh probably better than 'English sides'?
Thats stretching credibility, okay they had a good European run, but aside from that, they're propping the Rabo up, hardly impressive stuff.
