It always takes stuff like that to force change - remember Watson? His Remarkable recovery gives an indication that he could have made a full recovery had he been given the oxygen treatment straight away. Instead the gross stupidity of boxing was exposed and the only good thing in the whole affair was that the sport was better prepared with reagrds to emergencies.

On the contrary, I think its good for boxing. It will force the Olympic style testing on the sport. Those who are scared of needles or who believe a small sample would weaken them should retire and probably will retire.

Bradley's opponent may be fighting his last fight.

You're right about the fight happening at 140lbs. Ortiz should be able to make it. Decent fight I reckon.

I do agree, I was referring more to the bad headlines and the bad publicity, although there is always the any publicity is good publicity theory.

Ortiz can make LWW he has fought most of his career at the weight. Khan can move up it's not a problem to make the fight if he wants a big money fight.

You're contradicting yourself by the way and you you don't know much about Ortiz.

I haven't contradicted myself. Khan is not a WW (yet). Ortiz is not a LWW. The obvious thing would be for Khan to move up. But why should he. Its not like he has to eat a few big macs to bulk up. Its more then that and much more scientific.

Ortiz cannot make LWW anymore. He moved up for a reason. So what if he once fought there. Floyd once fought at SFW. If he starved himself he can make the weight. But he'll be there without strength and even Charlie Magri could KO him.

The only reason Khan may not want to move up is to keep his belts.

You say Khan should stay at LWW but in the same breath say Ortiz can't make LWW.

The fight can happen at LWW or WW. There's no problem here.

Yes and he was struggling to make LWW then. Look at his ring weight when he fought Berto (his first fight at WW). It shows a man seriously dehydrated making a weight he obviously wasn't suited to.

What belts has Khan got? Asda belt?

Khan should unify the LWW belts. Lets have a legit one weight champ for a bit eh. Would be nice. I want him to fight Bradley after he (if he does) wins back the WBA/IBF belts.

Khan isn't good enough to go straight in the deep end at WW although I believe he will beat Ortiz regardless of the weight.

Guys, before we jump on the roider bandwagon... cast your mind back a few years when Greg Rusedski tested positive for exactly the same thing, it turned out to be an accident. His reading was at 0.6 ug/l.

The body natrually produces 0.4 ug/l - If Berto is significantly higher, then yeah, he's a doper. If it isn't, it could be something as simple as a protein shake.

I would imagine there's a fair amount of leniency that can be put down to "protein shakes". My guess is he played the system and got caught, just like Peterson.

Drug cheats in sport are not popular. Chances are there'll be a few more popping up soon. 2 big US names so far - wouldn't surprise me if there's a few more.

Actually I don't think Rusedski was innocent at all.

It was just covered up by the ATP, like they did with Agassi (although Agassi was actually using crystal meth and ranked way outside the top 100 at the time ie it wasn't for performance enhancing reasons that he took the drug).

Rusedski famously said 'if i'm guilty then so are half of the world's top tennis players.'

I'm just playing Devils advocate... but how quick were the media to jump on Rusedski?

Nandrolone is a metabolic, but it can be found in people who use a number of vitamins, amino acids and general lactic acid in your digestive system. The fact is after drinking any thing over 3 bottles of a protein shake after a hard work out and supposedly healthy eating... you're going to have a higher nandrolone level in your system.

I'd wait to see the levels of it in his system before being quick to judge.

Rusedski was done for nandrolone with is naturally produced by the body when mixed with certain proteins. Its not as simple as taking a steroid. The 400m runner Mark Richardson got done for nandrolone and banned for 3 months. He got it mixing creatine with some protein shake and his body did the rest. He had a biological reason.

But Christie was 100x over the acceptable level and I'm sure he didn't get it from drinking ginseng tea.

Rusedski blamed his positive test on a sports drinks provided by the ATP claiming that he drank that drink and that's what resulted in the positive test. Seven other ATP players also tested positive prior to Rusedski and used the drink angle as their defence. They were aquitted. However in Rusedski's case he was aquitted even though the drinks had been removed from all ATP tournaments four months prior to his positive test !

WADA publicly criticised the ATP on the Rusedski issue. Most likely Rusedski threatened to spill the beans on some other high profile players, thus using the 'if you're taking me down, you're going down with me' angle. The ATP backtracked - they're far too afraid of the bad publicity and the lost revenues that it would result in.
