"London" Welsh

If they are allowed into the premiership (I think they should btw, despite not wanting Newcastle to go down), does anyone else think that it would be a bit far fetched foe them to retain the London part of their name?

I've always thought London Wasps in High Wycombe, and London Irish in Reading was stretching it all but Oxford seems to me to be a bit too far to retain the London part.

Alternatively maybe I just need to get a life a stop getting het up about such trivialities.

To be honest you could argue for them to drop the 'Welsh' bit as well. Especially seeing as London Irish and London Wasps have as much of a Welsh influence in the squad/coaching.

I'd never though about that? Didnt London Irish think about renaming themselves "the exiles" at some point?

I think London Irish/Welsh/Sottish are all refered to as the Exiles, maybe not in an official name though.

I know, I just thought I remembered a story about them proposing to officially change their name, gievn they dont play in London. But I may have made that up.

I remember on the old 606 there were those who called them the Not-Nots (Not london-Not Irish).

But back to the question at hand, whilst London Welsh may play in Oxford I doubt they will change the name, as there is the club history (and past prestige) liked to the name.
