If your national rugby team were a car what would it be?

I´ll go for a Lambourghini Murcielago (the Bat car) LP700 M-GT for NZ. Power, precision and plenty of pace. OK so it's no longer in production unlike the Aventador but who cares with those looks. Just like the haka in full swing. raspberry

A 99 Fiat Punto. While it's still capable of getting you the required distance, it splutters over the line when it does. It often breaks down and it struggles to maintain a consistent performance. It's a smooth drive one day and breaks down the next.

Rugged, heavy, no finesse.

I guess at the moment we would be some sort of Lancia, should be s good car, and most people would agree with it, however it just seems to have niggles with it that stop it form being as good as you think it should be.

DeLorean DMC-12

Lots of flair and potential, back and forth to the future, eventually going bust!

I think for Wales we would be Alfa Romeo: has potential to be decent but keeps having problems and breaking down which is damaging our reputation and 'respect'! (note: so I hear. i don't want to be sued!).

A Lancia that some owners of other cars are delighted to see break down!

Some good ones on here boys!

Ireland. A Toyota Celica. Good pedigree and capable of some standout performances. But annoyingly after every stage win, the brakes give way and they crash and burn.

Italy 500 Fiat Punto

Let's be honest, not much to look at and not much performance. And yet... still capable of outclassing other more well known cars to give the illusion that they truly belong among the big names.

England Volvo XC70 Crossover. Not the first name on your sheet but really when you look at it, there's much to like about it. Solid driving, safety first and extremely reliable. Won't break any records but secretly the envy of many, though no one will admit it publically.

I reckon the Irish car is driven by Fred Flintstone. Should have a good engine, but no real momentum can be sustained. Also tends to be surrounded by aging dinosaurs. The whole thing is more like a cartoon for children than something for the adults.

France - Citroen. Used to be a maker of cars with ridiculous flair and amazing style. Completely left field to everyone else in a je ne sais quoi kind of way. Now it is a brand that has lost its sole is dominated by lumbering diesels. If only they could rekindle some of that past sparkle.

Australia would have to be a Porsche. Fast, sporty, but unlike most other cars the engine's out the back.

England would be a Delorean with a 'flux capacitor' - anything to go back to the class of 2003.

Scotland would be an ice-cream van. When the music sounds, all the punters optimistically line up for a treat. After it leaves, everybody is left feeling a bit ripped off and short changed. But the next time the ice-cream van shows up we're all there again, optimistically hoping this time we'll get a flake in our cone thumbsup

My kids bought me a track day outing this Friday for fathers' day.
I'll be driving 4 cars in turn:
a Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, and an Aston Martin.
3 laps in each at a track in Oxfordshire.
I'll try and allocate 4 nations' rugby styles to each of the 4 cars.
So I hope to get back to you this w/e with some suggestions.
I see a clue already, as none of these like rough going, and some only the finest of surface underfoot. I'll think about this anon.

Wales an Allegro 1750 HLS plenty of pace but with a square steering wheel, and Howley chose the wrong wheels.

Yes they are like Wales.
People that have them think they are great, everyone else assumes they are mentally deficient. An exciting ride, usually ending in a burning wreck after few thrills. Have a habit of turning over at crucial moments. Stack up short against genuine supercars even if they are more fun.

England the Renault Sport Clio 200 Cup (4th best car in the world according to Richard Hammond)

Actually left it as "yet always the challenger! " so someone could come along and say and never the champion. But still that would have been just funny, with no opportunity for a childish dig.

Is white still the cheap colour on cars? boxing

Wales: TVR. Completely unreliable, but when it goes
England: Didn't they used to make cars back in the good old days in 2003?
Scotland: Do they make cars in Holland?
Ireland: Something good around town that always breaks down if you take it abroad

I'm not sure who the manufacturer of the Welsh car is, but it's definitely a 0-0-3 series.
