"The word GEE-GEE can be traced to England over 150 years ago and derives from the turning command GEE given to a workhorse pulling a wagon. A race horse called a gee-gee is thus compared to a common workhorse".

I bow to your superior googleistical powers Crimey. Kind of thought it must be to do with Gee up but seems a rubbish link. Far better would be cos Greg Rusedski looks like a horse and if you take away the re in his name you get left with Gg.
