A grand for a season ticket is fairly extortionate

Re: Price of Football
This survey as helpful as it is is a bit poor. Not everyone eats pies and drinks tea. What about burgers and coffee? What about travel costs? I know MK Dons have a matchday bus service to the ground that isn't free from centre MK and from Bletchley. It would cost me £40 to see MK play.
It says Northampton's cheapest "day out" is £27. If I was to go to Northampton to see a game it would cost me around £35.

Re: Price of Football
Another thing that adds a lot of cost for a football day out, Is beer
Went to Millwall away recently the price of the day out was
Match Ticket - £26
Train Fare - £8:25 (Group save with mates)
Beer for the Train - £3 Crate split
Pub (includes food) - £20-£40
Program - £3
All in all very expensive day out for me a Student!

Re: Price of Football
My season ticket is £605
The cheapest away ticket this season is likely to be £24
I don't by club programs/magazines but buy all the fanzines 4 = £10 a month
I don't buy food in the ground but a pie and bovril at Celtic Park is £5.20
Burger is over £4
Coke is £2.50 for the smallest
It's an absolute scandal

Re: Price of Football
Also for comparison to non-league football. Bedford Town, 3rd tier of non-league, charge £10 for adults entry, £1.50 for a programme, around £3-6 for food and drink depending on what you get.
Re: Price of Football
I just don't get the prices teams with half empty grounds charge, I don't appreciate that bigger clubs charge a fortune but I understand why they do it - they can.

Re: Price of Football
why do you lot think this is so expensive?
Nick its a day out mate..
the only cost you had to pay was the ticket and the train fair- that seems reasonable. surely if you had just gone down the pub all day instead you would have done the same total money!
Ent is based on economies of scale. Not saying they are perfect or not but i suggest they do it to maximise revenue/profit- not neccesarily the amount of fans that come in.
What may not be considered is the fact - if you get more people in to grounds you may sell more pies, beers and programmes- but i doubt these clubs are stupid.. There are surely maximising profit by charging what they do.

Re: Price of Football
They know people will pay those prices, so they continue to charge at those prices. It's the same with lots of things, cinemas charge ridiculous prices for tickets because they know people will want to go see the film, festivals charge horrible amounts of money for food and drink because they're aware you can't get it from anywhere else.
If a business can charge lots for something, they will.

Re: Price of Football
Smaller stadia capacity actually needs to higher average crowds. Take Spurs for example. They take just over 36,000 and every League game has been a sell-out, or very nearly, for a couple of seasons now.
Some Spurs fans probably would not be able to afford to go to ebverry home game in any case, as Tottenhsam is one of the most-expensive grounds to get into.
But with the small capacity, few can go to that many games anwyay as they simply can't get hold of tickets. If for example Tottenham have Man U, then Arsenal and then Chelsea as consecutive home matches and then entertain, say, Stoke and West Brom, the Stoke and WBA games get sold out as well as they are the first tickets available after the predictable sell-outs against the "big three" teams.
Consequently, with the ground full every week and an estimated 20,000 on the season ticket waiting list Spurs can pretty well charge what they like....and do. My ticket's the wrong side of £1,500 a season.
