The F1 Calendar Empty The F1 Calendar

With the ever increasing numbers of new GP's added to the season, does there need to be a re-selection of the valid Grand Prixs on the calendar.

It appears from 2014 that the season Bernie and the FIA seriously need to consider increasing the number of races per year to about 22 or 24. More and more countries are being mentioned in relation to having a GP, so I don't think they should be limiting the year to just 20 GPs. With the addition of the US grand prix, the Russian GP, possibly (but unlikely) a London GP, now a Thai GP, and also a second US grand prix, the chance of a new French GP.

Or does this point to a complete restructuring of the calendar. So that we have particular seasons to the calendar; a European season, then an Asian, and then finishing in the Americas? This could then allow two extended mid season breaks (with shorter ones in between if needed), and then with being in particular region transport could short and sweet.

The F1 Calendar Empty Re: The F1 Calendar

The F1 teams have already stated that 20 races a season is about maximum for the teams to cope. Going beyond that to 22 or above is not feasable within the timeframe of March-November. The teams need the off season to obviously prepare and do testing and already that is limited to levels they feel are inadequate. I remember Christian Horner stated that if the amount of GP's increased further then they would have to consider using two different teams of mechanics & engineers because of the extra mental and physical demands placed upon the teams.

Bernie is only interested in money and that is the direction F1 is going in. We have to face up to the fact that the european phase of the season is going to be made smaller and smaller, so that F1 can expand into newer markets.
