I honestly don't know, however if he is found not guilty then the Chelsea players who have sworn under oath that this was said are in for an interesting time.

Scapegoat for what?

I thought polls were to guage a wide range of opinions on a subjective matter. What anyone on this board thinks happened is completely irrelevant as it most likely going to be directed by whatever the media are saying - which is all we have to go on.

Where did I say I didn't care about it?

And if you would be so kind, would you answer the question asked in my previous post.

I personally think Chelsea tried to find a way to take the limelight off them for what they had done. What better way than to accuse the referee of being a racist?

Just a shame that there fans showed there true colours only 3 days later....

What a stupid comment. You mean the ONE far who made a monkey gesture. Don't tar all fans with the same brush.

Unless one knows the man or heard what he said, one can't really have any opinion. You should have 3 choices, guilty, not guilty and I haven't got a clue.

Ok, brush it under the carpet, im sure Chelsea will.

The fact is that John Terry and Luis Suarez were both fined and given bans. If Clattenberg is charged for being guilty without any proof, he will lose his job!!

They need solid evidence if they are going to do ANYTHING

Remember this guy is miced up, there are 3 other people listening to everything this guy says. If he's said it there is plenty of evidence, if he hasn't or there isn't sufficient evidence then I'm sure the FA will take a different stance to the one they took with the players. The FA aren't stupid, they know they can not suspend a referee and then allow him to continue his role.

Nobody is brushing this under the carpet, same way Chelsea didn't brush it under the carpet with Terry. They allowed the FA and the CPS to do their investigations without interferring and accepted the decisions.

The thing that makes me think he probably did say it is the fact that Chelsea would have been stupid to make the claims otherwise. It's common knowledge that he got a microphone so others are listening.

I'm supposed to judge whether a guy is guilty of racist abuse given no prior character knowledge, nor evidence of the supposed abuse?

It's all very fishy IMO, Chelsea are targeting him wit what they learned from the terry affair.

They've avoided a police complaint as they know they don't have enough evidence to get it to court never mind prove beyond reasonable doubt. They are targeting the fa's balance of probabilities and are going to get 2-4 player to give word for word the same statement.

Ill await the investigation outcome but I can't take their fight on racism seriously while they are still captained by a racist.

So Chelsea want to remove the racist stain JT gave them by highlighting a racist case. Yeah, great move.

During the league game there was lots of offensive stuff shouted by the fans. Not racists but it still doesn't make it acceptable. A steward was also knocked unconscious. All this has been brushed under the carpet. Also I'm not just blaming Chelsea fans. I think it's a cancer that Oscar growing in our sport. And yes you can brandish the blame at all fans. No-one is grassing these idiots up. I stopped going to top flight football matches as one game I went to the away support were shouting racist abuse at their own player. The stewards and the rest of the fans heard this and just laughed along. Said player then scored. When he was substituted he was given a standing ovation. I'll never forget the moment and will never be more embarrassed with the support or myself for not just leaving then.

Post by John Cregan Sun 04 Nov 2012, 12:05 pm

Apparently their case was:

(a) David Luiz (who has not good English) heard Clattenberg call Mata a "Spanish tw*t". Mata didn't hear it.
(b) Ramires (who has very little English) heard ref call Mikel a "monkey". Mikel did not hear it.

Their case on (a) has been dropped and they continue with (b).......yes, the 3rd party allegation of a Brazilian with little english who heard a man with a Durham/Geordie accent call someone else a "Monkey".

If this is what they have, Clattenberg should sue......................

Stood down from this weekend's action as well. Apparently his decision but I really feel for him. When he's found innocent I hope there is some comeback on his accusers though doubt there will be.

Makes a couple of "controversial" decisions which even if you believe are incorrect you'd have to be stupid to think he made them because he's genuinely biased.

Horrible, horrible behaviour from all the Chelsea employees involved.

Clattenburg probably said in his best Northern accent, "Off ya pop, ya cheeky monkey" or "Ey, let's 'av non of this silly monkey business."

However, without a recording of this, we don't know if it's Chelsea players reading too much into a harmless colloquialism or whether in fact Clattenburg has called them every racially derogatory term under the sun so how do we find him guilty or not?

Probably best to record everything said by players and officials and then no-one can have any complaints when it's produced in evidence that something offensive has been said or if they've been proved to be lying sh**bags.

Where did you "hear" this? From someone else who didn't actually hear it but only "heard" it?

As shocking as our legal system can seem at times, we still have to have the tiresome bother of the burden of proof and in this case there doesn't seem to be a shred of evidence to support these claims.
