To be honest a whole host of potential names for 5th but I thought I'd go for a wee bit of a gamble.

Can't see any of the current top 3 dropping out of the top 5 so i guess the other 2 spots would go to a player you think is capable of bagging a Major next season.

Re: OWGR Top 5 End of 2013
I'm having this weird sense of déjà vu in relation to a 2012 golfing prediction thread and hope this doesn't end up in the same way...
Can't say I have any real confidence in what the OWGR top 5 will look like next year, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Snedeker and/or Bradley have stonking years and break in. Having said that, I don't consider the probability to be that much lower for an all-British line up (e.g. McIlroy, Donald, Rose, Poulter, Westwood).
I think it's a good thing though that there isn't an obvious consensus answer.

No, Shane will be top 20 but top 5 will take another year or two.

Noh? He would need an outrageous year next year to get there as he doesn't have many pts from 20212

And such a year we should expect my good man, Woods to win at least 2 Majors next year.

It's rare for me to laugh so early in the morning. NO majors since 2008 and all of a sudden he's going to win 2?

You must be on planet Tigger.
He has shown no form whatsoever, and doesn't look if he can compete at the top level anymore.

Re: OWGR Top 5 End of 2013
Rory currenlty on 12.59pts, and Tiger on 9.00....
The way the rankings work, is it even mathematically possible to have a swing of 8.59 points between Rory and Tiger in one season?

Re: OWGR Top 5 End of 2013
Im not sure number one is that important to Woods anymore. His schedule will be all about the majors and if he happened to get number one then all well and good. But I suspect he now knows in Coco there is a genuine new guy in town who can dominate and stay number one for a long time, no disrespect to Donald or Westy or Kaymer but I doubt he thought that with any of those guys.

I don't profess to understand the world rankings at all but where does the 8.59 swing come from?

Re: OWGR Top 5 End of 2013
Well, some pipe dreaming bell end predicted Nine Chins would be ahead of McIlroy by 5 points, given that he's 3.59 behind he'll need to add another 5 onto that, hence 8.59

Re: OWGR Top 5 End of 2013
Tiger has had a really good season just nowhere near as good as he's had in the past or as good as what Rory is doing. I'd still say Woods will be top 5 by end of next year though. Would love to see Oosthuizen and Schwartzel, with the 2 best looking swings in golf, give Rory and co. a run for their money but they are just so flaky - I can't understand it.
My top 5:
McIlroy
Rose
Woods
Donald
Manassero
Very eurocentric but there you go.

Re: OWGR Top 5 End of 2013
its very difficult to get to the top 5 without having 2 good years so predictions like Mannasero and Noh and Sabatinni are very unlikely

Re: OWGR Top 5 End of 2013
Well based on the points earned this year you have
1. McIlroy
..
2. Woods
3. Donald
4. Oosthuizen
5. Rose
So something similar to kwini, although I would go for
1. McIlroy
2. Donald
3. Oosthuizen
4. Woods
5. Rose
I don't really see too many players being able to put a big run of consistent performances together as nobody else has really shown they are able, maybe Simpson or Scott but equally there's not much difference from 5 to ~15 so anyone who wins a major could break in.

Re: OWGR Top 5 End of 2013
I think the top 5 players one year from now will look like pretty much what it looks like right now.
Rory-Luke-Tiger-Adam-Oosty (rather than Rose)
Pretty nice Worldwide representation.
Filling out the top 10 (not necessarily in order): Dufner, Rose, Bradley, Garcia, Van Pelt
I think Westwood is going to continue his drop in the OWGR, and Kaymer will be ahead of Westwood in the OWGR at the end of next year.

Re: OWGR Top 5 End of 2013
It's seems hard to look beyond McIlroy, Woods and Donald at the top but there's a decent pack not far behind who could work their way up to 2nd or 3rd. There's also a decent pack down to about 25th who could move into the 4th and 5th slots.
Can't really see anyone touching McIlroy given his game, form and confidence. Beyond that, it's so tough to call. Westwood hasn't actually had a bad points scoring season (260) which is right around Dufner, Snedecker and Bubba. But as per my post in another thread, there's a 300+ points gang and from those I'd put it in this order -
2nd Woods
3rd Rose
4th Oosty
5th Donald
...but swap any of those around and 4th and 5th are open to attack from below with Dufner and Snedecker a couple of favourites with Scott and Westwood needing a bit of putting confidence and they'd be right there too. I think it's going to be a great season but it'll be a fight for 2nd.
