Your current PL starting 11
Based on current form what would be your current dream team starting 11 from the premier league?
I've gone for:
GK
LB Baines
CB Kompany
CB Shawcross
RB zabaleta
LM J.Enrique
CM Sandro
CM Fellaini
RM P.Hernandez
AM Mata
CF Suarez
Over to you...

You seem to be missing a GK
I would say how on earth do you have Sandro in there over Alex Tettey? Tettey has been amazing the last month or so, it's no fluke that our good run of form has coincided with his entrance to the first team

Couldn't decide on a keeper and was gonna wait until I had done the rest of the team, would prop go ruddy based on the performance against utd
I think Sandro is on fire at the moment, he's such an important part of the spurs setup he's been performing to a very high level recently and is on of those unsung heroes that every side needs.

Shawcross shouldn't be within a million miles of the starting 11. Enrique is not a left mid fielder and Sandro is a strange pick...

Enrique has been playing in midfield for the last few weeks actually.

I know. That is how I know he most certainly is not a left mid fielder.

Great point well made, any team of the season thus far without a West Brom player isn't valid, they've been a very good team albeit as a collective effort, bet you're loving it Matt, got a great coach, always fancied he'd end up at Celtic due to it being his team, was hoping he'd get a break at Liverpool, their loss is your gain though, what players have impressed you so far?

Re: Your current PL starting 11
In fairness just playing devil's advocate a bit really. You're right about it being a collective effort rather than a case of a stand out individual, everyone's really contributed this season.
Clarke's suprised me a lot as a coach, you can see some of the things he has taken from working with Mourinho, just look at our home form compared to last year. But he certainly has his own identity, and our style of play has been great to watch.
From the OP's team, I'd have Olsson instead of Shawcross and probably Yacob for Sandro.
James Morrison unlucky to miss out, but there are a lot of very good players in his position behind the striker. And Long also unlucky to miss out.

I totally overlooked the West Brom players to be fair, I'd definitely have Olsson in ahead of Agger
If its any consolation I'd have Steve Clarke as my manager of the season thus far, I really like James Morrison, he always impresses me with West Brom but very seldom with Scotland, think we tend to play him a bit deeper

Yeah he doesn't seem to play as well for Scotland, maybe now Fletcher is back and in all likelihood a far more competent/attack-minded manager he might pick up if he gets a game in the right position.
Having said that, he played deeper for us on Saturday against Sunderland and was equally as good!

Do you even watch any Liverpool matches?
Either your a WUM or your a bit on the thick side. Enrique has been playing fantasic in his new role recently. Probs Liverpool's on form player with at the moment barring Suarez

Yes I watch Liverpool. Enrique was average at best yesterday. Aside from a couple of good passes I've not been impressed.
Is my opinion ok with you?

Does it have to be ok with me? If you want my approvel yes your opinion is fine.
But you do come accross as a bit thick and a WUM (Wind Up Merchant so you don't have to google it )
I forgot you 'support' Newcastle, Enrique being an ex player and all your not going to coat him in glory but it does look a bit pathetic when you say 'he was average against Swansea' when he clearly wasn't.

Re: Your current PL starting 11
Enrique was fantastic for Newcastle and has the ability to be a fantastic player. But his best position is not left mid and he certainly isn't worthy of a position in the PL select based on his performances.
Not sure me supporting Newcastle is relevant here...
Bet hey, Liverpool fans a loyal to the extreme. Suarez isn't a cheat and Enrique is the best left sided midfielder in the league. And he was pele esque v Swansea.

Shawcross is good if you need a red card and someone's legs broken.
I would take terry or vidic over him if either was healthy lately neither has been but both are much better defenders.
Striker: RVP
Midfield: Cazorla, Hazard, Bale
Def midfield: Ya ya, Fellaini
Def: baines,sagna, terry, kompany
GK: Cech
Coach: Arsene Wenger
I know Terry is old and dinged up and a bit sullied reputationally but the guy is a constant threat on set pieces and an experienced winner.

Sorry but there is no way Arsene Wenger has been manager of the year, nowhere near it. That goes to Steve Clarke and Steve Clarke only at this point of the season

It's an opinion based thread, that's my 11 based on my opinion of current form not overal ability or even the season so far.
Shawcross for me in great form and is a main reason why stoke keep so many clean sheets
Enrique is on form and is playing out if his skin ATM and he is currently on the left wing
Sandro as reasons stated above

I would say Huth is performing better than Shawcross personally but that's just me. Shawcross gets more coverage due to England squad etc

Well I don't know about coach of the year I just think as a coach manager the way he sees football and how he evaluates talent. He has had the success he has had till this point with much more limited finances than lets say a ferguson or mourhino. Give me Madrid's payroll and revenues and I could coach them to a spanish league title. I like the way his teams play football and that he is an attack first manager and with a loaded squad like this we have seen what Wenger can accomplish. Plus we are going to need someone who knows how wail incessantly everytime one of our talents get a bad tackle, no one does Gallic outrage like Arsene wenger.

For starters I did not say he deserves to be in the 'current' Prem starting XI, I said he has been in great form recently which you dismissed as you are a Newcastle fan (I think its relevant here)

If you say so LJ, as you are a fountain of footballing knowledge, am surprised that you havent posted your 'current' Prem starting XI. Just since you like ripping every elses apart I'd like to see who you have in yours.

I didn't dismiss it because I am a Newcastle fan, as I've already pointed out to you. Who I support is entirely irrelevant to the form of a Liverpool player.

Santon has been in better form than Enrique this year. Hence the reason he was dropped from a hugely average Scouse side.

Oh dear, also I believe Santon is a natural right back and is he not injured!!! Theres a surprise. Enrique has been injured and has been in better form than Santon. When did Enrique play for Everton? Am starting to think you dont even know eleven players in the prem to pick 'current' prem XI.

Santon being a natural right back, like most of your points, is irrelevant. He has spent the majority of the season at LB so the comparison to Jose, who also played LB, is absolutely relevant. For what it's worth, he would be a better LM too.

Cannot see how any side has Kompany in there based on this season so far as he's been for the most part a pale reflection of himself. Same goes with Hart really as well.

Based on form this season mine would be...
Suarez, Cazorla, Defoe, Ba, Routledge, Ridgewell, Ruddy as subs
Begovic
Ivanovic --- Bassong --- Shawcross --- Baines
Fellaini --- Nolan
Mata --- Michu --- Bale
RVP

Couldn't disagree with that too much. Nice to see some recognition for Bassong, he has been a rock at the heart of our defence. Part of the reason we have kept so many clean sheets
Would be tempted to start Defoe over RVP personally

Amazed how many of the above team sheets have players in them that actually haven't been that great this season. Think quite a few just base it it on name > performance.

RVP = Joint top scorer. Defoe = Not joint top scorer.
Nice team Hero. The only change I'd make would be Nolan for someone who's perhaps more comfortable in CM/DM, maybe a Mulumbu or Yacob. Nolan's a bit of a thug when it comes to making tackles.

I've been an admirer of Diame even when he was at Wigan, he looks like a top player and I was surprised a bigger side didn't go for him in the summer, he'd be a much cheaper option than Tiote or M'Vila.

Can I also give a shout out for Alex Tettey. Not saying he should be in this team, but he has been a brilliant find for us in CM. He is a really good defensive midfielder, a great tackler and is a clean player. But he is also good on the ball and offers us a great burst of pace going forward. Also he will just runs all day, the stamina is unbelievable!
