Verdasco vs Goffin

Very Interesting 1st round clash, Goffin came back to win the 3rd set and now lost the 4th set, looks like a battle of Old guard vs New one. Nando is not the best of the old gaurd but neither is Goffin but still the match is very interesting , some good winner vs silly unforced errors.

match lost, well played Goffin but physically not strong enough.

Hmm ties in with my physicality and physique theory.

I watched till the end of fourth set. Goffin had started flagging rapidly. Very interesting player to watch for the rest of the year. Looking forward to RG this year for him.

Wonder if the Goff will embark on a fitness and strengthing regime

Well lk I think he certainly should.In today's world of tennis I really think it is about being the complete player and that includes all-round talent, serving, returning, fitness, court coverage, physique and mental toughness. The top players in the world are consistently high in all of those areas whereas you have players that fall short in some of those areas and so won't topple the top players. Goffin is fine in the talent area as he showed us at Roland Garros last year but evidently he is physically not there yet and needs his mental toughness and physique worked on. In my opinion that is.

I don't deny that. It was more the visible in this match, such a talent drained down in the end.
