Pretty sure you don't commit a criminal offence (unless you're trying to pass yourself off as a doctor/lawyer etc...) but you would be committing gross misconduct which is an instant sacking

It depends on the type of offence, the job your applying for and the jurisdiction but it could be construed as fraud and a criminal offence.
