Sorry to hear it Azzy, sign of the times though, HMV were just a dinosaur in the modern age and failed to react to how customers were buying music.

Indeed, I've told her since 2000 that online is where the business needs to be, but the bosses just didn't believe it.

When Amazon set up shop in the Channel Islands, HMV considered following suit but decided they couldn't be bothered with the hassle. Big mistake!

The company I work for were very much in HMV's situation (although on a much smaller scale) a few years ago in that our core market was in a medium that was seeing huge technological shifts in how they were being purchased and the platfrom they were being purchased on. We though acted swiftly and instead then surpassed our competitiors by making the changes needed before them.
