What went right?
Well Brees could still pass the ball... Cameron Jordan had a nice year.

What went wrong?
The defense was historically bad. Vilma would've done more good if he were suspended since he sucked. Jimmy Graham played hurt all year. Brees had too many turnovers.

Prospects for 2013?
Saints get their coach back, which should provide a lift, and also switch to a 3-4, which literally would struggle to worse. Rob Ryan comes in as DC with a track record that doesn't exact measure up to his bravado. The Saints should be players in the NFC South

Projected 2013 Draft Pick?
Given how bad the defense was, the Saints need to take care of that end. Will Smith will be a cap casualty, so the Saints need to find a pass rusher versatile enough to play in the 3-4, so this pick should really be Dion Jordan.

Saints have a lot of needs on D ,agree there first picks should all be on that side of the ball
Like you I'm not sold on Rob Ryan

I'm surprised they were 25th rushing, but I suppose that's what happens when your defence always puts you in a hole and you have Drew Brees.

They also like swing passes to RBs, which obviously wouldn't count...

Either way it should all be defence this year.

And yet despite having a rubbish defence we still managed a 7-9 record.
And we lost our first 4 games.

Considering we have 4 very capable running backs we need to establish more of a running game to help/stop relying on Brees.
And as has been said need to bring in players for the defence, but also o-line.

Bushrod may be lost in free-agency.

What the Saints need is some sort of incentive for their defensive players to make tough tackles.

On another note, when is Mark Ingram going to start making an impact?

When they use him properly maybe?
