London Irish Marketing Team Empty London Irish Marketing Team

Post by Irish Londoner Thu 14 Mar 2013, 10:58 am

There's already a thread on the possibility of a team going bust - London Irish's marketing team appear to be doing their best to disconnect from the club's Irish roots with this one.

As per usual the club have made a special St. Patricks day shirt, (and very nice it is too) however in the marketing blurb there is this little gem "The Jersey has the traditional 'Clover' used in a 'camouflage' design across the shirt."

I'm really annoyed that the people at LI can't tell the difference between clover and a shamrock! After all it's not like there's a huge symbolic link beween St. Patrick and shamrock!!

I'd understand this from an "Oirish" pub but from the club of the exiles !!

Ozzy - you're down Sandhurst way - are the Irish Guards/RIR getting presented with "clover" this year ? Is it the defence cuts ?

It is indeed. But then a cockrel is a type of chicken, and you don't hear people saying that the animal on the French jersey is a chicken.

For my defense your honor, there is only word in french for clover, shamrock and trefoil!

You’re exonerated pal. English isn’t your first language.

The LI marketing goons, however, are not.

There are plenty of examples of it, usually with colours, for instance Blackpool FC don’t play in orange, the play in tangerine, Kilkenny hurling don’t play in black and yellow, it’s black and amber etc.
