not that it isn't a good call..

Saw as a film was a little bit of a sleeper and was made on a ridiculously low budget for the time, especially for something coming out of America. I don't think they ever expected it to become the franchise it did.

On that basis with low advertisement and probably a lot of people seeing it as a home rental through good word of mouth. It felt very much like a tv series like True Blood/Game of Thrones style where the ratings/box office would be higher come the 2nd instalment after word of mouth had spread.
