Rafael Nadal pulls out of the Monte Carlo Masters with knee injury!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tennis: Former world number one Rafael Nadal has announced on Monday that he would be unable to take part in the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters due to his recurring knee injury.

Nadal posted on his facebook page on Monday morning, “I am very sad to announce that I won’t be able to play in Monte Carlo. I am facing pain in my knee once again and do not find myself in a condition to compete. It’s one of the saddest days of my career as I always love to play there and wanted to win my ninth straight title there. Hope to be there next year.”

Tennis World had reported on Sunday that Nadal made a surprise visit to his doctor Mikel Sánchez in the USP La Esperanza clinic in Vitoria to have a check up of his knees.
Condition of Nadal’s knees was not clear till yesterday but this announcement has revealed that hard courts of Indian Wells harmed Spaniard’s knees. The 11-time Grand Slam champion captured his 22nd Masters titles at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells two weeks back.

After playing three clay court tournaments in four weeks on the clay courts of South America, Nadal was advised to not to risk his knees by playing on the hard courts of Indian Wells but he decided to play one of his favorite tournaments. Nadal won the titles but he had put his French Open titles defense in doubt now.

This news has dropped like a bomb on Nadal’s fans, which missed him for seven straight months before this. The Spanish star could not take part in some of the biggest events in the previous months but he got back with a bang. The 26-year-old had won eight straight titles in Monte-Carlo and was favorite to add a ninth one. They can only hope that this layoff would be not that long and the Spanish star would be back in Barcelona or Madrid.

Those readers who are feeling too sad after reading this news should check the date on their computers as they have been made April fool. Sorry guys, I know you are abusing me at the moment for playing with your emotions but I could not resist myself from doing this.

I wouldnt have bought this if I hadnt read an article yesterday claiming that Nadal had visited a specialist in Cali after Indian Wells

Ha ha! I don't have to use my "defending vigor" on Murray. He has fan's with awesome and frightening quantities of "defending vigor" and if you type anything that can be loosely viewed as less than positive about him on 606v2 it just comes out as "£*()$£££""*" So there is little need for his fans to make use of it. Whereas I'm trying to do my best to stop 606v2 looking like less intellectual forums were Nadal is never defended.

Except that Nadal is usually very well defended including by many of us Murray fans on 606.

The only April Fools joke HE would have agreed is if somebody would have opened a topic citing like "Miami tournament officially ruled out and Murray's title and points taken back, unfortunately the OP is not wise enough to do it this way and hence the rightly opposition from our respectful HE.

I am not even a Rafa fan, but got tensed by this article, coz in Monte-Carlo Rafa has the chance to re-write the history with 9 titles in a row, I don't want that to be stopped by an injury.

Yep, I read it that way originally...and thought oh no, that's bad news.

Perhaps the greatest irony of all in this is that the spoof article, in some ways, comes across as far more credible than many of the mixed (and at times downright contradictory ) messages emanating from the Nadal camp - and I would emphasise camp here rather than directly from Rafa himself - during the period immediately following his Wimbledon exit, and then subsequent lay-off until his welcome return to the tour.

yloponom - have to say your remark does have more than a hint of smugness about it. Judging by the posts so far the rest of us are happy enough to admit we were either 'taken in' or at least momentarily left wondering ......
