Scarlets V Glasgow
First topic message reminder :
Ciao Juve, I've been away and the boards seem quiet as regards the Warriors so let's get started. Very much a must win for the Scarlet Women. Although four points may not even put them fourth. Whereas even an LBP will keep the Warriors in the top three. As for team selection, assuming everyone is fit ( where's UIG when you need him?) I'D start with
1.Grant
2. WeePee
3.Angela, although Muzza made a huge difference when he came on against the former Irish giants at Scotstoun.
4. Big Al
5. Swinson who seems to be betting better all the time
6. Bluto if we want to attack them from the off Harley if we want to take the sting out of them and then bring on Bluto
7. Barclay wears the jersey till he leaves just so we can appreciate him
8. Wilson
9. Niko/Henry same logic as 6
10. got to start with Rhurarb after Munster 51
11. DTH
12. Hornee furra Linee
13. Dunbar
14. NoMaits
15 Lion in Waiting
Murchie, Schlong and the Messiah can all feel hard done by OR could all play. If we come close to replicating the second 40 against Munster 51 then we will pocket 5 pts. If we reproduce the first 40 it could be a long, frustrating night.

Well played Scarlets - better in every aspect of the game. Our worst performance of the season. Clancy as usual utter baws. Barclay good but playing for a contract. Grant good when he came on. Problem was 10 12 &13 really poor. DTH worst ever for The Warriors - same for Wilson. Jacko as per usual follows a good performance with a bad one - inconsistency is his consistency. We may now get through but in 3rd or 4th so feckin well done lads. Dock their wages Toonie.
BTW as i have said elsewhere we know why it is a Taff in Eastbourne. Thrown oot most likely !

Re: Scarlets V Glasgow
The Scarlets fly-half looks like a cracking player, great kicking game and confident. Wouldn't recommend starting a fight with Harley though.
Taff the potential lions in the Glasgow side did well;
Grant had a good game apart from one scrum and carried well.
Maitland was busy looking for work but didn't get any space due to the midfield.
Hogg had limited chances but solid at the back and had a couple nice touches.
Sounds like Lydiate was on fire for Dragons Taff, really showed his world class defence to stop an absolute rout and further his Lions case. Oh wait a sec, he didn't.

You're right, Lydiate was absolutely anonymous for Dragons, whilst his opposite number Diack had a blinder for Ulster. But Lydiate is only just back so we'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Do you think there is a chance he will re sign with you guys? Like I mentioned earlier in the thread a reliable source on the scarlets forum states that we have spoken to barclays representatives about signing for us.
think it was just a bad day at the office for glasgow, just one of those games they never really got going. agreed the bench did make a difference, especially grant. glasgow had a lot more possession in the 2nd half - although jackson had a game he'd rather forget. weak tackling, charge down kicks, kicking out of the full etc.... on a positive glasgow are still good enough to get to the final and win it. maybe they've got their bad performance out of the way.

In fairness, not that many people are calling for Lydiate for the Lions. Just look at the poll. He's only got 11 votes (9%). Even Warburton got 8% of the vote for the blindside flanker spot!

Lydiate was in his third game back in a side getting stuffed up front.Tackled everything that came near him but is still off the pace.
When a Scottish lad get voted the Player of the 6N's I will applaud from the rooftops.
He will not travel with the Lions as it has come too soon after his lengthy lay off.He is a resilient fella but match fitness is crucial for his dynamic style of play and he is lacking this. Why do you think he should travel?

Think he has nailed his colours to the mast by saying he wants a change. The Warriors forum has some discussion around this but think he is off. Shame - best 7 in Scotland by a long way now that he has found his form. We should have played him in the 6Ns with Brown and Beattie.

Great to see Barclay playing well again, shame he's off next season but hopefully it'll push him on further.21st Century Schizoid Man wrote:pioden gorllewin wrote:21st Century Schizoid Man wrote:Well played Scarlets - better in every aspect of the game. I've always thought that when fully fit, Rennie is the better open-side to Barclay. Would be great to see both fit and in form for a couple seasons.

WTF, i say WTF happened? I haven't watched it: is it worth it ?
If we lose to Hairsprays and win we could be out of the play off places!
Just to top off a grand weekend Millwall tell us it's a testimonial game, they have lots of players, rolling subs, they whup us and to add insult to injury bring on an Irish international in the second half. And SHE could play!!

We only have your word it was clever. WTF went wrong on Friday? Is the Messiah, like the Nazareth song "Only a broken down angel"?

Re: Scarlets V Glasgow
Don't watch it. It was dreadful. Hopefully a blip and not the balloon bursting. Scarlett's played very well but Glasgow looked completely off from the start, very poor handling and headless at times. Worse game I have seen for some time from Ryder, Wilson, Jackson and Horne. Particularly Jackson who had a mare. Barclay played well, grant was very good when he came on and Swinson made a difference. Bennett had nothing to play with, came off for Lamont who butchered a great break with a terrible pass. He is not a 13. Inside centre for me still has question marks. That is not a game for a 12 like Horne who really struggled, especially with Jackson inside him. Really needed a big guy at 12 to just hit it up to create good second phase ball like Dunbar. Actually I even think that was the sort of game we needed Morrison if Dunbar injured to do a Roberts like job at 12. Toonie made a big error taking Barclay off and not Wilson for Harley who played well when on. Bad day at the office, shame as well as I was making plans to be in Glasgow with my brother for the semi, looks like I will need to watch it in the pub!

Today's report in Scotland on Sunday says that if it was baseball not rugby then Jackson would be back in the little leagues tomorrow morning.

What a brilliant piece of analysis! He had a bad game, it happens. He was absolutely outstanding against Munster, so I don't see how sending him back to the "little leagues" makes any sense.
Did Weir make a big impact coming on, other than missing the fairly straightforward kick at goal? Do we send him away as well?
It was a bad day at the office. Glasgow have played some great stuff this season, and came up against a strong home side, and failed to perform. As always, there will be those in the press who say stupid reactionary things, just to sell papers. Best ignored.

Re: Scarlets V Glasgow
Agree fES but Jackson's consistency is becoming worrying. Think Toonie must go with Weir to start on Friday. If Dunbar is out needs SLamont in there to make a pest of himself other than that do we get Morri back for his swan song ?
