You can't fight for them

This article is my response to the current disturbing trend of father/trainers sticking their heads in the limelight. For me enough is enough. I have no problem with fathers training their sons but it seems all to obvious that some are displaying real jelousy at the fame their sons recieve.

I know they love their sons and want nothing but the best as well as making sure they do not get seriously harmed but this is a single man sport and at the end of the day the dads have 1 role to play if they get a bit scared and that is to throw the towel in the ring. People like Angel Garcia and Ruban Garrero are nothing short of moronic acting as the hype masters of the sons career. IMO they are harming the careers of their sons.

Of course there are success stories with the likes of Enzo Calzaghe and Floyd Mayweather snr but recentley these guys have become out of control.

What are your views on them?

And on father/trainers in general?

There's far too much in the way of EVERYONE trying to hog the limelight. Refs have become "celebrities" in their own right as have the MC's and pundits. There are certain cornermen who are here, there and everywhere (guy with the glasses and 'tache who works MMA matches too) Won't be long before the Ring Card girls start getting airtime. Why not the fathers?

It creates an interesting backstory...sorry that should read "interesting backstory" and can be used to sell a fight to those who want to see Floyd and his dad go ballistic mid-fight.

Wish the ring card girls could get more airtime.

They could fight for a minute bewteen rounds instead of holding up a card (there's a big screen above the ring for that and I can also count to 12) If we're going to continue the trend of exploiting women they may as well do something to build up a sweat for their money.

JCC Sr. may not give his son pearls of wisdom, but i think he goes about this "boxing dad" thing the right way.
Give him a name to live off
Come to a few days of training per camp
Wear a random head banner fight night.

Basically like a boxing Spike Lee.
