Survey Feedback
Feedback from v2 Survey
Thank you all for taking the time to fill out our questionaires that were posted last week. I thought I would put this note up to share with you the results and let you comment on them.
Although we only received a fraction of our members and readers responding, the amount of responses is large enough to get a good cross section and fair representation of our readership.
So without further ado, here are the highlights from the results:
How long have you been reading?
80% have been reading since 2011
Male or Female?
93% of readers are male
Where do you live?
86% of you live in either the UK or Eire. The rest live in either Australia (3%), elsewhere in Europe (3%) or the US (3%).
Do you use the v2 journal or podcasts?
Only 15% of you either read the v2journal or listen to the v2 podcasts
What age are you?
Only 26% are under the age of 30 with the remaining 74% over the age of 30 (29% between 30-39 and 21% between 40 - 49)
The sections read by percentage - by largest readership
Rugby - 50%
Football - 29%
Boxing - 24%
Wrestling - 18%
Movies - 18%
Cricket - 16%
Tennis - 15%
Golf - 14%
How do you rate the moderation?
Excellent - 27%
Good - 48%
Average - 17%
Poor - >1%
Terrible - 0%
Other - 7%
Do you use facebook or twitter?
Twitter only - 8%
Facebook only - 32%
Both - 32%
Neither - 28%
Would you help grow v2 if possible?
Yes - 54%
No - 18%
Other - 28%
(please note most of the other were positive, especially if they dont involve paying anything! (please note we are not asking for money!))
There were some other specific feedback points that we will take on board which were really helpful.
We will be posting over the next few days of how we intend to grow the site more going forward but these stats have really helped us. The biggest surprise to me personally was the football readership - just shows that it appears to be everyones favourite second sport!
Let us know if you are surprised or not and if there is anything else you would like to raise.
Regards
Adam

Re: Survey Feedback
not massively surprised really.
a little surprised like mysti that so many use neither twitter nor facebook, and also a little surprised at the average age which I had guessed at a little younger (the two may be related).
I also find it interesting that the vast majority are here since 2011 so are rescapees from the BBC site (I'm guessing).
Regarding the sections read I'm a bit surprised that football is so high.

Re: Survey Feedback
I put neither on the FB/Twitter question, as I have accounts for both but never, ever use them. I'm far too wary of my personal data being out there and easily found by employers / ex-girlfriends / people I don't like.
I'm amazed so many people like rugby, if I had a cup of tea rugby would definitely not be it...goes to show that we do have a nice, varied board with a great range of interests!

Re: Survey Feedback
My wife won't set her own account up so I need to have one so she can spy on our friends and family, otherwise I'd have deleted it some time ago. If I want to be friends with someone I'll have lunch with them, call them, visit them, send them a birthday card, none of this poking nonsense or writing 'happy birthday' on their wall once a year.

You could always ask your mum, sister and nan to sign up Olly. That'd give us one more female.

Good spread of ages on here too, that's probably what surprised me most.

Re: Survey Feedback
The moderation is highly ranked too, which is a real positive - 75% either thought it was good or excellent.

Surprised that football is so high its seems to be the same 10 members posting in that bit also surprised the Wrestling is so low as its one of the best sections of the forum!
Re: Survey Feedback
Who would admit to discussing Wrestling!!!
I think the football is clearly read but not debated..
Its a good little section. But I do feel very old on there. Come on Oldies.. Get posting

Re: Survey Feedback
I thought Wrestling was the post popular thing on here because i thought thats how this whole website was created in the first place, clearly im so wrong!
Also very shocked that Rugby is the most popular, because football is clearly the most watched sport in the world and obviously the best.
Surprised so many people don't use twitter or facebook, whilst i admit Facebook has gone downhill a lot and is mainly used for the instant messaging, twitter is continuing to grow and grow.

Re: Survey Feedback
I love doing surveys and stuff, it seems to help the staff out a lot with knowing more about the site that they manage in general amongst other things.
Nick, i believe the main starter amount of people that joined the site were Wrestling fans including me and some Wrestling fans were fans of other sports too and eventually the other sports built up and here we are today

Was away on patrol while survey was up and running. Not particularly surprised by findings, especially re football. Threads like "who is for the drop" work quite well as they are on a well defined subject affecting a reasonable number of clubs... Often find I am talking to myself on West Ham thread....
Moderation vastly better than on old BBC 606 site....

Re: Survey Feedback
Hello I'm one of the 7% I think that the lack of us on here reflects sport itself really. Many women support a sport, but less seem to be enthusiastic enough to spend a lot of time discussing it, or getting into the punditry side of it. All the "nerdy" stuff about sport seems to be a man thing mainly. When I'm in work for example, if I want to discuss a match or something I've seen at the weekend at length, it's usually male colleagues that do the discussions. Some women tend to see sport as a more personal, leisurely pursuit of that makes sense.
I was intrigued to see quite a high percentage of people don't use Twitter or Facebook considering they're on here. That's not a criticism - each to their own. I only use Facebook myself. Mainly for personal things and because there's more control over what you can share and with whom. I've given Twitter a wide berth really. Personally, I find it a bit..."too much information", and it seems a bit of a complicated system to me. However, that's probably because I haven't sat down and gone into it properly, but when you see all the celebrity rubbish (mainly arguements/feuds) that comes out I don't think I can be arrsed with it all.
