The Greatest Ever Series! - Top 10 Batsmen Empty The Greatest Ever Series! - Top 10 Batsmen

There have been many great batsmen over the years.
From W.G Grace to Sachin Tendulkar, it seems that every generation throws another great into the mix.
Here is a condensed list of the top ten, who out of these gets your vote as the best ever?
Also, is there anyone missing from the list that should be included?

Greatest batsman has to be Bradman. Probably the more interesting question is who is the second best! Smile

Bradman, the guy averaged FOURTY runs more per innings than his nearest rival. Also, not sure I'd have Border and Gavaskar ahead of Hammond... Still it is incredibly difficult to pick the top ten of all time

Bradman managed to keep his average that high over such a long playing career. Some top players have a few years when they can score at an average around sixty or higher with a total career of about 10 to 15 years (if they are very good). Bradman played test cricket for 20 years and was the best batsmen in the world for most, if not all, of his career.

Kallis>Ponting
if ponting is on the list kallis has to.
Kallis has a better average than ponting and has scored a hundred more than punter.

Also kallis played in a good test side but his side is nowhere near as good as the one ponting played in till 2006-07.
Ever since the retirement of the all time greats ponting has struggled to inspire his team while kallis gets better and better with age.

sachin is awesome and prbably the best but we dont no how good bradman would be in the modern game, to average 99 is awesome whatever era you play in but it would have been great to see the pair of them at the top of their game against each other

Being 19, I've opted from my experience of watching batsman and after a toss up between Tendulkar and Lara, have opted for Sachin.

Watching him bat, I always find myself in awe of how easy he makes it look.

sachin was a lot better than lara, sachin consistently performs all over the world lara went through big spells without scoring runs, i know every player has that but sachin is a class above.

I think Lara had an ability to play outstanding one-off innings but didn't always get going, whereas Tendulkar is very consistent and rarely plays badly.

Got to say Bradman, his record doesnt lie, and the little matter of WWII hampered his scores! The best i've seen though has to be Sachin, but i've always been a massive Hayden fan

i went for sachin purely because he's the best batsmen ive seen, although lara pushed him close. bradman of course is generally regarded as the best but having never seen him play im not in a postion to judge him fairly
