came across this last night and have to say what a fantastic example of how to ref, to many times the bigger boxer in a heavy wieght clash is allowed to hold and push and spoil the contest, wlad v haye for example where wlad used hes forearm round the back of the neck all through the contest when ever haye got in close or landed ,or wlad v anyone really! im not saying it would have changed that result but the same ref would have let bruno hold all night and spoil the fight!

Wonder how long before we can just accept Wlad is better than Haye and move on and do something a little more productive with our lives?

I actually forced myself to rewatch it and find out where Wlad conceded two rounds Laugh Must have been at the pub afterwards

Theres no comparison to Wlad - When wlad was buzzed (or more likely came in a little too close) he held for a coupel of seconds at a time and then carried on fighting. Bruno was holding and hitting which is probably what the warning was for. Wlad was deducted a point and twice warned for leaning on Haye - Holding on when in danger wasn't excessive at all.

It's okay saying Mills Lane was a great referee...........Had a good boxing record too 10-1

However it's not all good watch Lane referee Camacho and you'll see a guy looking for any excuse to get in Camacho's face and take points..........Watch Starling-Breland and you'll see a guy so short he's stuck in the middle of the two fighters brawling on the ropes..and looking a c**k and when he refereed heavies he's too small to get them to break........

Ruined Smith-Tyson...........should have thrown him out after 6..

However the positives out weight the negs.....beats Steele and Cortez anyday.

Did also say Curry was the best fighter he ever refereed..another pos.

Can't think of a better ref, a real tough guy and a judge as well.  Interesting plaque he had in his office,  "balls of steel" with two cast steel balls.

I liked Mills Lane, good ref, to be fair Truss just about every ref has a bad night, never ever got annoyed at Tony Weeks and Kenny Bayliss' performances however.
