This is not the real world.

The anger, the vitriol, the rants and the wums are all magnified because they are being expressed on social media such as FB and 606 as an example. There are literally 1000s of users on here. There's about 10 welsh poster constantly mocking everyone else nations because they won a competition. Probably about same English & Irish who mock the Welsh back. And unlike Gatland let us not forget our Scottish Brothers.

Hardly a true reflection of most people on here is it? A very vocal minority screaming over the silence of the majority of decent reasonable posters who must be avoiding these threads like the plague.

On Saturday I will be with all my mates (and yes some are Irish, Welsh and Scots) in the pub, proudly wearing our Lions shirts and cheering the boys on. We do have discussions about selection, we often disagree and of course there will be the leg pulling.

But because the person stood next to you is real it the debate naturally adopts a balanced and social view.

On here it doesn't. It is anonymous and at times violently blown out of proportion because it is easy to be that way with no retribution.

On Saturday I will not be sat on my own, watching the game in my bedroom and tapping furiously on a lap top.

Unplug my fellow posters.

Enter the real world.

The reason people get so damn annoying online are-:

1) it is hard to tell if someone if being serious or not. I have put a few throw away jokes in posts in the past and had people string me up for being aggressive etc.

2) If some of the comments I had heard on here (and elsewhere) since the team announcement had been made in a pub, the poster would have been told to sit the heck down and sshh up.

3) Boredom plays a fair part in it too, sometimes you can see a handgrenade has been thown out online purely for the amusement of watching people bite like crazy.


In the real world people tend to get along easier as you can see facial expresions, tone in the voice etc. Also if you step out of line you can feel the clip around the ear that is coming

I love how we can still get all the blame when it's the Welsh being attacked from everywhere possible. It's us who are constantly mocked for losing to Australia so we just like to remind people that we can still win games and competitions. Players like Phillips, Lydiate and Warburton also get unfair criticism for no apparent reason.

I too will be proudly donning my Lions shirt (which has the added bonus of BOWE 14 on the back  ). I have every faith that they can win this. I hope that all the criticism and bytching will spur the Lions on and give them added determination to win. I don't care who scores what for the Lions as long as the match ends with the score in their favour.

People take their Humour Seriously around these parts!! I must brush up on my delivery or a grenade might roll my way.

Come to think of it, I've been tripping over them all day, the little buggers.  Luckily enough they all had pins still in them.

If your aim's good and the wind's right, you could do some serious damage with a pin.

Step zero...(before one): Pull pin and count to five before throwing.
