Iberdrola Open
The European tours offering this week really does pale in contrast to the Yankee offering even in name it hides in the shadows, the Iberdrola Open is not quite as exciting sounding as the Player Championship.Noetheless this offers the winner a 2 year exemption on tour and as small climb up the OGWR. Its tournament number 2 of the ET's Spanish Swing and no doubt with the passing of Spains and Golf favourite son Seve this week will be an emotional roller coaster for many including the life long friend of Seve, Jose Maria Olazbal. Monty is teeing it up out there this week to still searching for the form that made hom Europes top dog.
Defending champion and 2 time winner last year Peter Hanson, has departed to the PGA tours glamour event so cannot retain his title in a field that is filled with names that are for not many household players but guys looking to establish themselves on the ET, Seve Benson in name alone lends further reference to the great man. Its hard to pick a winner as the only names many have heard of will be players in the twilight of their careers, but it should be a great event to watch with so many young ET players coming through and much like any other TPC weekend McIlroy won't be playing, as he has never made a cut at Sawgrass, it seems odd that his schedule is so sparse of actual tournament golf this year! But word is he's working with Dave Stockton on his putting so maybe the penny has dropped

Good to see SR's favourite fatty Lowry shot a record equalling 63 to get into 2nd place but if chris wood keeps up the momentum he can bag his maiden victory

It won't last Mav, the weight of all those cream teas, mars bars and fish suppers will catch up to him before the end of R4.
63 is a good score though, His caddy must have been walking in front of him with a kebab on a stick. Perhaps a new tactic.

Super
Are you one of those porkers that loose weight and then feel the need to make a point of fatties at any opportunity?

No Mac (or should I say glory hunting Man U fan? )
I've never been fat, but there is simply no excuse for a professional sportsman to be in that laughable shape.

Darren Clarke proves that experience counts down the stretch to take a well deserved win for his consistent play in the wind and Chris Wood capitulates one the back 9 to throw away a four shot lead. Well done Darren

Shame about Wood, I was hoping he would win, but pleased for Clarke.

Really pleased for DC, shame about Wood though. I think it's fair to say his first win is now overdue.
