Community Shield 13/14

So tomorrow the traditional opener of the season kicks off with Premier League Champions Manchester United taking on FA Cup winners Wigan.

Wigan have had a few big changes to the squad that finished last year, while Manchester United look alarmingly similar. Grant Holt is the biggest addition to Wigan having lost the likes of Kone and Alcarez. Manchester United have only added a young Uruguayan full back.

Wayne Rooney has been ruled out with a "shoulder injury" which is only going to add speculation of his future. I want that saga to move on quickly because otherwise United are never going to kick on.

I expect United to be rusty, they've had a poor pre-season by all accounts and quite a few first teamers played a match on Wednesday. Despite this, I expect them to come away winners and give David Moyes a good start.

That Manchester United shows just how much investment is needed. Cleverley and Welbeck aren't good enough, Giggs is too old now as well. Surely a 4-3-3 line up, Cleverley likely to play a bit further up as a number 10.

Looking at that Wigan side, I can see why people are tipping them to go up, most of that squad are too good for the Championship.

Looking forward to this, should be good. Hoping Wigan can score first. Interested to see how Zaha goes, if he performs, Valencia should be having a quiet season. Agree Crimey, squad looks weak.....Cleverley & Giggs says it all.

Don't know why, season starts next week and Wigan are already underway.

Games at wembley are always slow paced but this is a dire performance so far.

Favourite moments of first half; Barnett trying a 5 yard pass, which resulted in Man U throw in and him falling over. Classic Leon.

Superb header by RVP and United in complete control, Wigan barely having a sniff. United have kept the ball well for the most part, although their performance did tail off for the last 10-15 minutes. Can't see Wigan coming back from this.

Flat as a pancake this game, both sides awful. Nice finish by RVP but that's about it, also sunlight annoying me. Rafael`s inevitable injury problems arise again.

Rafa went off injured unfortunately. He hobbled off down the tunnel so it's not like he was stretchered off. Hopefully it's just a minor injury and more precautionary than anything.

Shocking game. Another cup for fergie`s collection. De Gea should of stayed in bed. Zaha will be infuriating but all wingers are. The reliance on RVP seems big now Rooney is potentially leaving.
