RIP Hector, we had to put our dog to sleep two years ago and it was awful.

He wasn't that type of dog, ONETWO.
Just a regular jack Russell breed and not a boxer.

He was a scrapper then. Lost my jack twenty five years ago, but still think about him.

Yeh he was mate. Sad that had put him down but at the same time had 17 years of memories. Always nice to have.

Re: RIP Hector
I've got a Jack aswell. Shes 100 miles an hour still but shes just turned 4 now. 17 years is a good innings for a Jack.
RIP.....dread going through the same thing.

rip hector.
one of our charlies went to doggy heaven a couple of months ago. We were worried the other charlie might be in mourning, but he's never been happier!
condolences mm8, theses things are never easy. Getting a replacement?

My pooch is starting to slow down a bit now. She's 12(ish) so hopefully has a couple of years yet but the decline is noticeable. She's as happy as ever, but is becoming more stubborn (this common with older dogs?).

Stubborn is through old age Lumbering. Hector was around the same age where he acted similar. Then we had 5 years of stropping and towards the end just doing as he pleased really (in terms of crap everywhere and dog urine bless).
Not getting replacement Milky, its the family dog and i have had him since 10 years old, moved in with the missus 5 years ago and we now have a Beagle who is 2.
Me parents are on holiday in Thailand and i was on standby like a journeyman, awaiting the call if anything happened.
It happened and we are devastated, more so me as i had to go and do paperwork and say goodbye on behalf of the family.....not good.

My mum's springer departed this mortal coil last week, just before she left on holiday, understandably it didnt send her away in the cheeriest mood.

Yeh fair point milky. There is never a good time hey.
Have to do it all over again with mine and the missus dog, Penny, in 10 or so years. After yesterday, in not looking forward to that!

Re: RIP Hector
I got rid of my springer last year, as he was relegated to live outside and wasn't getting enough attention. He got re-homed on a farm; loads of exercise, two other dogs to play with, a pond to swim in, farm hands to fuss him etc. I got a slap from my wife when I wondered if they could re-home me as well.

I have a cat, grew up with dogs all my life so am a bit worn out with them as a species generally, am also not home enough to look after one. The cat on the other hand is more self sufficient.Steffan wrote:I dont own a dog. Or any other pet for that matter

Re: RIP Hector
Same here. While I would never even entertain the idea of sharing my apartment with some animal I would never have the time to walk or feed one anyway
