Welcome to Season 6 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game.  Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to.  If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.

Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players.  If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.

Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 20 players.  Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1991.

Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page.  Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.

Transfers wrote:

  • Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.
  • Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues.  These players must be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on its own merits before being accepted or rejected.  No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
  • Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.

    Structured Window

No cash will be used and each team will get effectively free transfers by way of a draft, which will run 12th, 11th, 10th …… 1st, 12th, 11th,10th… 1st place side.  This will run from 10th June 2013 until all teams have had their two picks.

    Open Window

Open transfer window, teams have unlimited bids provided they have the financial resources to cover them.  Teams may only bid for one player at a time.

Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation

Compensation will be paid as follows

£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other

All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players.  Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches.  These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday.  Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday.  Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday.  Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday.  Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Saturday.  Managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved).  An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.

Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result.  To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.  If you are not providing a descriptive prediction you will be restricted to predicting a 1 point win either way.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.

In addition, each team must have the following:-

At least 10 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.

At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.

All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).

Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.

If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.

Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.

Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.

Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.

£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

Genia will still be involved as he can still put in that world class performance, his consistency has disappeared though.

Reds awful driver.

So poor up front. They have cracking half backs in genia and cooper and some real gas and creativity out wide.

However without good ball backs can't play and have to attempt high risk play.

Reds protection of their half backs is awful they are so poor at the ruck. To be fair Australia have been poor at that over the last year or so.

I'd be disappointed if Cips left for Gloucester.

Despite a very disappointing performance against a superb Quins last night (Expect Quins to sneak 4th on that display) Sale should be in Europe next year to provide him a shop window I just don't feel Gloucester offer at the current time with the strange selections and mediocre performances upfront.

Wasps still being heavily linked to him, would love him back at the club. Really need a creative no10 to get our backline going.

Glad Daly has finally gone back to 13 after covering 15 with Southwell injured/retired - makes a huge difference in attack for us and that option to attack the outside shoulder. Left Trinder for dead last week.

Hope he goes on the England tour.

If I was a player I would rather be at sale than glos Steve. As
A ten I would not want to play behind our pack. Maybe all the signings for next year could persuade a player to come. There is also the uncertainty over who will be the coach so glos is not that an attractive proposal really

Force are quality at the minute. The Force 13 has been a machine in defence.

As a team they have been mighty impressive this season.

See Connacht have signed Bundee Aki, wouldn't have minded him at Falcons.

Daly needs a run at 13, he's not great positionally and not the biggest to defend in that outside channel. Personally I think he's better at 15 but needs a run.

Daly has had loads of game time at 13, only Wasps injury list that makes him play at 15 - much prefer him at 13 as he's a very intelligent player, gives a great attacking option and a big boot.

No issues defensively for him, he's a solid lad!

He's pretty lightweight. He's not had a solid run at 13, certainly not this season.

I don't think he'll be a good 13, not at the top level anyway. Could be a top 15 though, he's better than Foden.

Sounds like we're going well against Irish.

26-12 down and 4 tries to Irish after 33mins, it just keeps getting worse.

Actually it's now 5 tries after 35mins, time for Deano to go?

I think Richards is a tremendous dor. Would have him at glos in a shot. Irish and falcons had out the worst front rows in the prem today. Even glos would have filled their boots against the like of parr tomacyk havelatu etc.

Falcons must have been really poor but should stay up which was their objective for the year which means Richards has done well

Our scrum is one of our positives this season. We murdered the likes of Quins, Sale etc.

The standard of rugby is really bad and we reportably have the most expensive coaching team in the AP, something has to give.

I do like Richards but I think some of his ideas are out of touch, I'd take Gold back in a shot. I don't think we've put the same backline out twice in a row all season.

Falcons were absymal first half. Dominated second half but didnt score a point. Was a poor game really. Your not wrong matt shocking front rows however next season we will have court, cross and aulika which is pretty decent. Joel hodgson was lively when he came on. Clegg was awful. Lee smith terrible at 12 too.

Lee Smith was at Wasps a few years ago, was terrible then. Amazed another club has given him a chance.

When you compare the Worcester and Falcons team you'd probably put more Worcester players in a starting XV, especially in the backline, so Deano must be doing something right with the coaching.

Falcons look like they ahve some very good youngsters, but not enough quality around them. Looks like they've made a couple of good signings for next year, Calum Green will do well in the AP.

Smith is a back 3 player, he's looked ok in the games he's turned out. His defence is a work in progress though so a surprise to see him at 12 against 2 big lads.

Chris, you've obviously not seen us play, it's shocking rugby. Deano is doing nothing right.

But what else can he do Pooly? He's keeping above Worcester, they have a weak squad and the players aren't going to be able to throw the ball and play attacking rugby because they would get smashed by other teams.

Looks like he has kept them in the AP, though Worcester have started to play some better stuff, but considering the players he has to work with...

Want Wasps to sign Pennell - he's been so good for Worcester this year, amazed a big club havent gone for him.

We'll stay up by default, not because we deserve it. They won't be a team as bad as Worcester next year.

The rugby is dreadful and we get smashed so at least try and be a little ambitious.

There is no game plan bar kicking the ball away, it's not good enough when your coaching team is apparently the highest paid in the Ap

Agree Chris deano been sensational.

Newcastle came up from a dross championship and have stayed up so credit to them.

Need a 10
And back 3 desperately as Noah Cato and Jaimie helleur were poor championship players.

To come up the aim is to stay up. Newcastle have some young talent and can build and go up the table.

They've been lucky that Worcester had so many players leave at the beginning of the season and haven't gelled at all. Worcester have played the better rugby and last 6-8 games they've been lucky not to get 3-4 wins, they should have beaten Wasps, we were so lucky to win that one!

Cato has had a pretty good season and Heuller is a centre not a back 3 player.

We've got decent players (Powell, Tiesi, Sinoti, Tait) but struggle to put a few phases together, this has been the case for 2 seasons.

If you think Deano has been sensational you've obviously not seen us play and I question your rugby knowledge as every Falcon fan thinks the opposite.

We've not put out the same backline twice in a row, is this a good way to build familiarisation between players?

Totally agree Chris, we'll stay up because Worcester were so bad at the beginning of the season. This isn't a way to gauge a DOR or how a club is progressing. You look at what's happening in the pitch and it's dire.

Recruiting to Newcastle is difficult as not many people want to go there.

You can't be great straight away. A bit of recruitment and they will be ok. Has introduced a lot of youth

It's the way we're playing and the way we're shipping points. We don't look anything like a team and the rugby is the worst I've seen up here.

Wells/Deano just seem out of touch. I'd love Gold back

Wells is a waste of space. Know a few who have played under him and all said he was very out of date and had not changed with the game

Thing is Deano is a very, very good DOR - I'd take him at Wasps over Young any day of the week - the players he has are Championship standard, but they have some great youngsters who I can see coming through and can see the reason they stay is because Deano is there.

If they can keep Wilson, the backrowers and that wing then they've got something to build on. Just need to up the quality of the rest of the squad.

I'd imagine Bristol will come up next year and they will be a lot better than both Newcastle and Warriors as they've got some serious financial clout - saw them being linked with Adam Jones today! So Falcons will need to get some bigger players in quick smart!

I dont think richards has done a good job. Only kept falcons up because worc cant win. Not starting blair today and having fury ahead was a crazy decision. Not an easy job as they lack some quality. Will be tough for you next year assuming bristol come up and seeing how us and glos etc have recruited

He's not done a good job at all Nick, I reckon a monkey could have took us up from the Chanpionship as our pack was so dominant.

Something needs shaking up wether that be Wells or Richards leaving, possibly both.

Starting fury was weird. Irish made some good signings but signing dan Leo is baffling. Not what they need

I think taking that Newcastle side above wuss is a real achievement. They have players who you would think are not ap quality and yet have survived.

Their backs are terrible and they have no 10 so it's a great effort.

A few signings and they will be midtable. Signing the bristol reserve scrum half who bristol would not offer terms is a poor signing though.

Bristol will be a decent side and will make more signings if they come up

Riki Tipuna??? Is Bristols first choice scrum half. They reportably offered him a deal but to be back up to Peel, he's a decent acquisition for us and 10x better than our back up 9's.

If our players are apparently barely AP standard, who's to blame for that?

If we have no 10, who's to blame for that?

Bristol did not offer him a deal. Their biggest issue is 9 and they keep changing who plays there. Tupuna was first choice but now they have reduced his minutes and have tried other options.

One of my best mates is backs coach at bristol so I know most things going on there.

My point was that deano has made players who were not ap players into competitive ap players and has done a good job.

Re not ha if a good ten and recruitment issues when you come up via playoff you have less time to recruit and most deals
Are already done so you are at a huge disadvantage. Exeter stayed up first year and then recruited well. Falcons will do the same in my opinion. They are now a prem club and will find it easier to attract players

Tipuna is generally seen as the best 9 in the Championship, he's a step up on Pilgrim & Fury. I've seen him numerous times and happy with him coming in, he's very much Bristols 1st choice as you'd know with such close links to the club.

The signing of Godman was a dire signing, he was barely Championship standard yet brought in and starts most games.

Deano picks the team. From somebody which such vast rugby knowledge, is having a different backline every game a good move?
