Post by Adam D Sat 29 Mar 2014, 11:00 am

The show opens with the entrance of MVP. We see a recap of last week’s main event. MVP says that he wanted to make sure there was a level playing field in TNA. He mentions Abyss’s actions and says that there must be an executive decision. Magnus’ music hits and he comes to the ring with Abyss. He reminds MVP that Abyss has a service contract with Magnus, not TNA. MVP says he’s fine with the details of the contract. MVP tells Abyss that if he puts his hands on him again, he’ll show him a different side of MVP. MVP asks Abyss if he wants more from wrestling and life. He asks Abyss if he wants a shot at the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Magnus is angry at this idea. MVP says that the match will show where Abyss’s alliance really lies. MVP announces that next week Magnus will defend the TNA title against Abyss and Samoa Joe in a triple threat match. Joe’s music hits and he comes to the ring. Joe tells MVP that he’s only asked him for one thing and that’s a chance to fight Magnus uninterrupted. Joe says that he’s upset that he’s been put in what he thinks is a handicap match. MVP and Joe argue. Joe blasts Magnus and a brawl breaks out. Eric Young hits the ring and attacks Abyss. We go to commercial.
Back from commercial where Eric Young, MVP, and Samoa Joe are still in the ring after the brawl. Eric Young says that he has a solution to MVP’s problem with Abyss. Young says that Abyss is his responsibility and that he should be added to the three-way title match next week to take Abyss out of the equation so that Joe can get the match he deserves. MVP says that he’s not sure if Young deserves that shot. Young lists a huge amount of accomplishments from his time at TNA. Joe tells Young that no one is doubting his accomplishments. Joe says that there’s a line and Young is not at the front. MVP changes his mind and puts Young in the match. Joe is not excited about this idea. Joe shoves Young and they start to brawl. MVP calls for referees to pull them apart. Joe gets up and yells at Young to fight him in a match. MVP says that he’ll agree to let the match happen.
Backstage, Bully Ray says that his Twitter machine is back. He then calls out Bobby Roode to the camera. In another area backstage, The Wolves ask MVP to put them in a match against Abyss and Magnus. MVP thinks about it and says that it should happen next. We then see a video of Ethan Carter III and Rockstar Spud searching for Willow in the woods. We head to commercial.
Back from commercial where EC3 and Spud are still out looking for Willow. EC3 tells Spud that they’re here to attack Willow at his home for what he did to them last week. Back to the arena, The Wolves make their entrance. Magnus and Abyss enter after them.
The Wolves vs. Magnus and Abyss
Magnus starts against Davey Richards. Magnus grabs Richards’ arm and Richards reverses with spins and flips. Magnus regains control. Richards flips out of a backdrop and tags in Edwards. The Wolves hit a double team on Magnus. The Wolves in control. The Wolves go for another double team on Magnus, but Abyss breaks it up. We go to commercial.

Edwards gets out of it but is grounded by Magnus again. Magnus runs into a boot from Edwards in the corner. Edwards hits a top rope hurricanrana on Magnus. Richards is tagged in. Richards takes Abyss off the apron and hits a series of moves on Magnus. Abyss gets back in the ring and Richards hits a double dropkick. The Wolves hit a double team and Abyss breaks up the pin attempt. The Wolves get caught in a double choke slam, but back-flip out of it. The Wolves hit stereo kicks on Abyss, which sends him out of the ring. Richards hits a suicide dive on Abyss. In the ring, Edwards rolls up Magnus and goes to a single-leg crab. Magnus taps out immediately.
Winners: The Wolves
After the match, Abyss grabs the TNA title and looks at it closely. Abyss approaches Magnus and then walks right by him holding Magnus’ title. We go to commercial.
Back from commercial where Angelina Love is heading to the ring. She grabs a mic. Love says that Velvet Sky has not answered her calls all week. She tells Sky to come out and tell her what her problem is. Sky says she’s peed off and calls Love out for attacking Madison Rayne last week. Sky says she did not sign up for this. Love says Sky is mediocre without her. She tells Sky that she’s lost her edge. Love says that no one messed with them when they were together. Love says she has a match with Rayne tonight. She tells Sky that by the end of that match, she had better pick a side. Love gets out of the ring and leaves. We see a video package showing the relationship between Gunner and James Storm. They will wrestle later tonight. We go to another video showing EC3 and Spud looking for Willow. We see Bully Ray getting ready to head out into the arena. Tenay says he’s up next and we go to a commercial break.
Back from commercial and EC3 is trying to get Spud to go into a barn. EC3 has decides that he’ll do it. He pretends to be attacked inside and scares Spud. They go inside and check it out. While EC3 isn’t looking, Willow grabs Spud and drags him away. EC3 looks around for him and hears Willow’s laugh in the distance. We move to another video detailing Gunner and James Storm’s rivalry. Back to the arena, where Bully Ray makes his entrance. Ray gets into the ring and starts motioning for someone to come out to the ring. Random fans come to the ring with tables and set them up around the ring. Ray puts two in the corners of the ring and one set up on the mat near a corner. Ray asks the crowd if they know who he is. He says that he’s the guy that made sure Dixie Carter is no longer a part of TNA. Ray calls out Bobby Roode and says that if he’d won that match, he would have ended up just like her. Roode’s music hits and he comes out to the stage. Roode admits that the opportunity to become an owner of TNA blinded him. Roode reminds Ray that he’s the one the tricked Ray into going to the TNA offices in Nashville last week. Ray tells him to quit running his mouth and get into the ring to fight. Roode tells him that Ray doesn’t call the shots. Roode says he says when and where. Roode says no to a match. Bully chases him up the ramp and blasts him. Ray fights him back toward the ring and beats him down on the outside. Ray wants to drop an elbow off the apron onto Roode who’s laying on a table, but Roode moves and Ray holds up. Ray misses a punch and hits a table. Roode takes advantage and beats down Ray. Roode sets up a suplex to put Ray through a table, but Ray holds out. Roode ends up pushing Ray into the ring post. Roode continues to beat down Ray. They both get on the apron with a table set up on the floor. Ray kicks Roode in the gut and goes for a powerbomb. Roode flips Ray into the ring. Ray fights back. Roode leans up against a vertically set up table and Ray charges. Ray goes for a big boot, but Roode moves and Ray puts his leg through the table. Ray ends up going for a powerbomb again, but Roode gets out of it. Ray charges Roode again and Roode moves. Ray goes head first through a set up table in the corner. Roode gets out of the ring.
Backstage, Abyss approaches Magnus with the TNA title. He gives Magnus the title. Abyss asks about Magnus tapping out so quickly. Magnus says he doesn’t care if the title is not on the line. Abyss says that he hates losing. Magnus reminds Abyss that he needs to lose to help him retain his title. He tells Abyss to not let MVP into his head. We go to commercial.
Back from commercial and we see James Storm and Gunner preparing in separate areas for their match. We see another video package with Knux. Back to the ring, where Angelina Love makes her entrance for her match. Madison Rayne then makes her entrance.
Madison Rayne vs. Angelina Love
Rayne hits the ring quickly and starts to beat down Love. Love rolls out of the ring. Rayne chases her around the ring and back in. Rayne keeps control. Velvet Sky heads down to ringside. Rayne charges Love but Love pulls down the rope and Rayne hits the floor. Rayne comes back in and rolls up Love. They get up and Love takes back control. She dumps Rayne to the outside onto the floor. Love and Rayne exchange words on the outside. Love comes back in and gets a two-count of Rayne. Love chokes Rayne on the middle rope. Joe drives Young’s head into the turnbuckle. Joe hits a splash in the corner followed by a big kick. Young kicks out of the pin at two. Young fights back with punches, but Joe headbutts him. Joe drops the knee on Young for a two-count. The two hit the ropes and both go for clotheslines. Both men down. They get up at the same time and Young hits a spinning clotheslines and a series of moves. Young goes to the top rope and has to bail with Joe stalking. Joe slams Young after Young charged him. Joe charges Young in the corner and runs into a big boot. Young misses a moonsault. Joe gets up and tries to lock in the rear naked choke. Joe gets it locked in and Joe chokes Young out (During the choke, Joe’s shoulder’s were down on the mat, but the referee did not see). The Hebner’s discuss the call as they walk up the ramp and backstage.
Winner: Samoa Joe
Storm and Gunner are next. We head to commercial.
Back from commercial, we see EC3 heading toward a house, looking for Spud and Willow. We see a video from last week where Christy Hemme slapped Samuel Shaw and he clipped some of her hair off. Just watching the show now.

First thoughts:

Opening segment was quite good - MVP is growing into his role quite well and is a good authority figure. Eric Young was also excellent in this angle. I also think he namechecked Enforcer in his speech!

EC3 and Spud are brilliant. If they could put them in a feud with Bad Influence, it would be absolutely legendary!

The Wolves are fantastic too. Great match and although Magnus is being booked so, so weakly at the moment, I kind of like him more than I have before. I liked his attitude of tapping straight away and his promos are getting a lot better

This has to be one of the most awful TNA shows I've ever watched, but not in a disheartening A&8's or Main Event Mafia era way, in a hilarious Sharknado kind of way, I loved it, was in stiches several times

Few things, Eric Young's justification that he should be given a world title shot to take care of Abyss (bearing in mind Storm and Gunner are going to war over title shots later in the card), Young using his knockouts title reign as justification for the title match, Joe objecting and MVP adding Young anyways, the ECIII/Spud/Willow vignettes, particualry the Spud kidnapping with horror music in the background, the backstage shot of highly hyped Kenny King apparently flying from Las Vegas to Orlando to have MVP say we don't have anything for you and King just going 'ok see you next week', Sam Shaw being given a 1 week suspension for a quasi-sexual assault of a non-wrestler with a pair of scissors, in which a camera man decided he had nothing better to do than just film it, the finish to the Joe v Young match, and lastly I don't know if you noticed but after the (and I'll give TNA their due I thought it was brilliant) angle with Papa Gunner last week, you can see him in the front row of the Beautiful People and Joe vs Young matches, but he's yanked for main event

Like I said I actually really enjoyed it, but probably not for the right reasons

I think thats all very valid!

With regards the TNA Knockouts title mention, I think it was Eric Young pointing out the stupid gimmicks he has had to deal with that he had previously mentioned as opposed to being proud.

The Gunners dad thing is just unfortunate due to the multiple tapings at once they do. They should have made sure mind in post production.

The Samuel Shaw thing is the weirdest, creepiest thing I have seen in a long time on a wrestling show.

Gunner vs Storm has been a brilliant feud - in fact I would go as far to say its been one of the best built feuds of the last year on either TNA or WWE. And each match has been very good. Gunner is one of my favourite wrestlers at the moment. He looks legit badass.

The King thing was pretty ridiculous! I am guessing that they might make this in to an angle where he keeps turning up and they have nothing for him - maybe MVPs first feud?

The only thing I will disagree about is EC3 and Spud. Yes its ridiculous. Yes its like a horror movie. BUt Its bloody entertaining and at least it means that all 3 are doing something other than just being Magnus' back up. I really like the production values on it. I know a few others mentioned that the A&8 funeral had a similar feel and they didnt like it. It doesnt bother me at all and I think its refreshing.

I also quite enjoyed the Knux segment - I never thought I would be typing those words!

Oh Christ I forgot about the Knux thing, 'I can fix these arcades...I cannot fix these arcades', what the actually f***

I found both the EC3/Spud stuff and the A&8's funeral really funny, but that's mainly due to how naff I thought they were

TNA Results 27th March Empty Re: TNA Results 27th March

Overall, I liked the show very much.

I'm liking how EY has become a much more serious character of late, since the whole "unleashing the monster" thing started. I also liked that he basically demanded to be taken more seriously, when he listed all the "crap" he's been saddled with over the years. Now if only he would do something about that beard!

The Gunner - Storm feud is just fantastic, as have been the matches so far. Really doesn't need anything adding to it.

Similarly, the Bully Ray - Roode story seems to be building nicely. Would have like to have seen more of those tables used, but I suppose you can't have everything.

I also thought turning Willow into a horror movie character is a stroke of genius. Like Abyss, he's not the most audience-friendly of characters and should probably only appear when he's got a fight scheduled. Seems TNA want to do something similar to what WCW did with Sting during his "Crow" phase.

As for EC3, I was starting to like him as a wrestler, once he started getting booked in proper matches, but I'm enjoying his pursuit of Willow. As for Spud - he is just hilariously enjoyable. He might be hopelessly unbelievable as a wrestler (lets face it, most of the Knockouts could kick his ass), but I'm loving the bumbling lackey he's become for the Carters...even if it is a bit of a comedy cliché.

Also liking the return of Angelina Love - its injected a bit of life into the Knockouts. With only 2 or 3 ever in action at any one time, there were just no stories of any interest and every other fight seemed to be a contender or title fight, which becomes repetitive and boring after a while. Still, TNA need to follow this up with other stories, as this one won't run for too long (without also becoming tedious).

I will agree that Kenny King's segment seemed a waste of air time. Why not just do another promo, maybe tease an upcoming feud, instead of having him show up at the venue for no reason?

I'm also starting to wonder what the point is of continuing the Sam Shaw story? Okay, this is pro wrestling and credibility does get stretched regularly, but surely most stalkers would have at least been visited by the cops by now...possibly locked up in a cell awaiting trial?

Was also baffled by the Knux segment, as I thought he was long gone with the rest of Aces & Eights. What the hell was that about? Are they really planning on building a story around a character most fans weren't that bothered about in the first place?

All in all, not brilliant, but still pretty good.

There is nothing "better" about it - its different.

For every reason that I like it, a WWE fan could use that why it isnt good.

But for me:

The show is more fast paced (yes I realise its an hour shorter!)
I prefer the backstage and off site promos (some really good comedy videos with Rockstar Spud and EC3 last week for example)
The wrestling is more varied (in my opinion)
Some very good builds at the moment. In fact everyone is being built well except for the champion!

The thing that lets it down is the inconsitancy. However, its nowhere near as bad as some people (mostly WWE fans) will have you believe. Its not 2 steps forward one step back but I wouldnt argue against 3 steps forward and 1 step back at times.

I think they are doing a fine job at the moment at building some great stars for the future and generally using their talent better than they have done for years.
